I thought I'd start this discussion because a lot of the bigger issues surrounding double standards, broad generalizations, and gross injustices get most of the attention, both on this sub and on others. While I think those issue are important, I also think there are a lot of smaller, lesser-known stereotypes about men that most don't scrutinize. And I think they're still worth discussing. Here's just a few.

  1. The assumption that men don't enjoy intimacy, be it sexual or emotional

  2. The assumption that men can fix anything and are failures if they can't

  3. Men can't cook and don't know how to conduct themselves in the kitchen (Personal note: I love to cook and so does my dad)

  4. Men are expected to work hard, but are also expected to make every excuse to not help out around the house

  5. Men are incapable of handling certain household tasks like laundry, dishes, and changing diapers

  6. Men are somehow weird/creepy if they think a baby other than their own is cute

  7. Men don't have a romantic side and don't care for romantic sub-plots in any movie, TV show, video game, etc.

  8. Men only ever appreciate crude, vulgar humor

These are just a few that I came up with. If anyone has others they would like to share and discuss, please feel free.
