today i broke my friend's mind. here's how:

imagine a situation; you're just chilling with group of friends, not touching anyone... but suddenly one of the group says something very very insulting. they can insult your loved one, community, relative, parent, you yourself etc. and this is such a horrible insult you can't just leave it or say something in return, your hands are itching to hit them.

if that was a man, i asked, would you hit him?

my friend said yes without hesitation.

then i asked "what if that was a woman?"

and my friend just broke. they (i don't wanna disclose their gender) started mumbling and trying to get out of this topic. i asked them, though, why would they hit a man, but won't hit a woman? if the insult didn't change at all?

they couldn't give me the answer. the situation speakes for itself.

(ok if someone doesn't understand, i do not condone violence to any gender. no man, no woman, no non-binary person should be physically abused and conflicts should be resolved civilly. the post is about double standards and how abuse towards men is completely normalized.)
