Hello!
I've seen some of the posts/articles on this sub about false rape accusations and the fact that the accused can be convicted and jailed without any substantial or damning evidence of rape being presented, and even if there is evidence supporting the accused and helping their argument of innocence, they are still convicted and jailed. (Most recently, the accusation of someone dreaming they were raped and causing an arrest.) I have also heard of rape kits being disregarded in evidence altogether.
Additionally, how is it that in situations where females admit to sexually assaulting and raping minors or others, they simply get a slap on the wrist when they have admitted to committing a felony? Why do the false acccusers generally get slaps on the wrist as well (including instances where they take advantage of drunk males)?
Is this just a bias in the law system? Is there something wrong with how it works altogether?
How are these cases prosecuted? Is there no "Innocent until proven guilty" guideline for these? And how would one protect themselves in any situation they are accused aside from getting a lawyer and confirmed alibis from others?
Sorry if this isn't the sub to post it, I just felt like it would be better than the default ELI5 sub because this is a subreddit practically dedicated to this issue, and I would potentially get the info in one big post. If there's anything erroneous with what I wrote, just let me know.
Edit: Thanks for the replies everyone! Very insightful. I have no idea how this'd be fixed because its so ingrained into the majority in such a wrong way, and any lawyer/judge who went against it would be scrutinized and mocked insanely.

Agreed with everything except this part. A woman can rape a man, if the sex wasn't consensual. Erections are uncontrollable, and do not indicate consent. I've read about a man who woke up to a woman riding him and she threatened to accuse him of rape if he didn't keep quiet. He had to just lie there in disgust while this woman used him. How is that not rape?
