Fact Checking Feminist Claims About False Rape Accusations: Part 1

This is an interesting historical perspective on the misinformation and tactics used against male victims of violence, abuse, wrongful imprisonment, etc. One part that stood out to me in this post involved the Brian Banks case, and a statement made by the woman (Wanetta Gibson) who lied about him raping her:

She [Gibson] also stated that she informed the lawyer handling the suit that no rape occurred, and lawyer told her to keep that to herself.

Seriously, if true, this is an absolute disgrace. I looked for any other source for this, but I couldn't find one, so I'll withhold absolute judgment for the moment. However, if this actually happened, then that lawyer needs to be disbarred immediately. Unfortunately, even if this is real, Gibson frankly has no credibility as a witness, so I doubt much could be done against the prosecutor who may have knowingly brought a false case to court.

This is the real gaslighting. Also, if the court case suddenly unearths evidence that the accusation is false, often the prosecuter's witness stops cooperating and the case is closed. These are not counted as false accusations.

Please note as well that there is selection bias in play even if you accept feminist claims about frequency (Despite them being lies.).

The type of accusations to get the most attention are going to be ones *designed to get attention.*.

Most rapes are, for lack of a better word, "Mundane", and extreme and graphic focus on lurid details is not the kind of thing rape victims will tend to (some exceptions) pepper throughout their retelling of events.

Even if it is the case that only 1/100 accusations are false (It isn't true, but even if it was), the one accusation that gets everyones attention is going to be the false one at a far higher frequency than that, because it's designed to do it. This is true on an interpersonal level, but if you add the media and sensationalism and chasing clicks into the mix it becomes extremely true, and it's why it seems like almost half of the stories we see end up being false accusations, selection bias is applying.

Even if 1/100 are false, it's not 1/100 you've personally heard of that are false. It's far, far closer to 50/50 than feminists would dare admit.

Another aspect of this feminist gaslighting technique is that it frames a discussion about social repercussions into legal ones, despite this sleight of hand being something they mock in other people when you accuse them of being anti-free speech. They love to rattle off how it isn't the government or a court doing it. But suddenly, when you pull them up on rape accusations, they're all about only the ones made to the police counting. My guess would be that people actively lying about a rape are less likely to tell that lie to the police than just folk in general, or media sources, and so on.
