As someone who’s been on the receiving end of severe bullying due to a false allegation, I totally agree with the word “survivor” being used to describe us.

I've had much contact with male victims of sexual assault AND quite a bit with victims of false sexual accusations. The psychological impact of the events is virtually the same. Whilst male victims of sexual abuse don't get a lot of social or formal help the victims of false accusations see none at all. Indeed they will become pariahs and quite likely the target of much aggression.

I was sexually abused as a seven year old. Twice in my life I've been falsely accused of non sexual things. In hindsight the false accusations were at least as traumatising as the sexual abuse.

I thank all the gods in the pantheon that the woman who accused me of theft at Tullamarine airport didn't claim I'd touched her.
