My reaction to mother's day: As a social media participant, I want to pose the question to some of the posts praising their own mothers.... "If your mother was so great, how did you end up being such a person"?

The mother of my five year old son somehow turned mother's day into a week long celebration decorating the whole house while trying to brainwash our boy. It's tragically comical considering she threatened to drop him off at the fire department while he was an infant to manipulate me. The maternal grandmother said " put him up for adoption". Now both are parading around like they are in the running for mother of the year and bad-mouthing me. My guess is my son will figure this stuff out when he gets older. This overcompensation is happening for a reason. By their fruits you shall know them.

As a father I don't expect any celebration from my sons, but it would be nice with a personal gift like a drawing or something. I don't think fathers are as demanding as mothers are.

I'm more annoyed at the mums trying to take over fathers day. You never see men doing that to mothers day. Just seems greedy, you already have a day to yourself which is celebrated much more. Can anything just be for men? Or do women always have to be the center of attention.

Ugh... Although I understand what you are coming from the last thing I need is another capitalist holiday to spend money I don't have on. My wallet is enough empty as it is. And you don't even get the benefits of the holidays like mandatory days off. I say do always with as many of these "holidays" as possible. They are all BS and yes that includes mother's Day.

As a child, I had never heard about a father's day. As an adult, the Father's day is not celebrated in school.

Father's Day really isn't a big deal to me. In my house, we have a tradition of having a Father's Day hike with our two sons, maybe get some takeout or grab dinner out somewhere after, and I love that. That being said, I do really hate how there's been such an uptick over the years in trying to make Father's Day about single moms. Hell, Angel Soft even did a whole "Happy Father's Day, Mom!" campaign years ago that irritated me years before I even became a father. My young boys sometimes watch Peppa Pig, and there's an episode where Mommy Pig actually says that Father's Day isn't a real holiday. So it's pretty clear how society and corporations look at the day, but they know they can get away with diminishing or even ignoring Father's Day because they know we won't make a big fuss over it.
