Still have a couple years till my kids are out of the house, but spending a day together would be amazing. Doesn't have to be anything grand. I think a game cards or dice would be fun, but if you're father has different hobbies maybe that. He probably also knows if you aren't really interested in each other's hobbies, and if that is you. Then maybe split the day into different activities.

Just to hear their voices. It has been 3 yr 4 months and 2 days since my daughters last talked to me. And I doubt I will ever hear their voices again.

It’s not much guidance, but I’d offer the sentimentality of dads is way understated. Also, based on my experience, dads are way more likely to gush to their friends/coworkers at work about their kids than they are other places - they don’t act like it, but the value of a reminder/momento of why they bust their hump at work is a huge to them.

Maybe just a picture of the two of you in a nice frame that isn’t too big or flashy might be a winner.

I'm not a dad, but from my experience, mine tends to enjoy doing things with his kids better than he likes getting gifts. Find a way to spend time with him doing something you both can enjoy, it'll help him feel special and appreciated, and it's something you two can bond over. As a bonus, this is probably the best time period to ask about stories from your or his childhood.

I went with some hand repair cream, beard wash, solid cologne, and a few different soap bars. I spent some time going over all the different smells with my mom to make sure she would like them too. I got them all from Duke canyon so it’s all manly smelling stuff, I use it myself so I know how good it it is and what most of the different smells are.

Dont get them the typical dad gift like sport shirts, or tools. Get him something from one of his favorite interests, for example my dad loves marvel, comics, space and cooking. So I got him some marvel movies, and a really nice cutting board. Some people just forget to give him a gift like you would a kid, something that has to do with their interests

I help my dad with his hobbies or like try get him new hobbies like arduino, 3d printing Merkur etc.

Gendered gift

Wow. The cognitive dissonance is astounding! Fathers' day is a gendered day, just like mothers' day. If you want to give an ungendered gift, you should create an ungendered day- parents' day.
