Yesterday, an article bearing the title "The New York City Subway Is Taking a Stand Against Ridiculous Male Privilege" was posted on Mic.com. It noted that the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) in New York intends to launch a campaign to discourage "man-spreading," the egregious act of a man not sitting like a woman while riding the subway.

Apparently this is a matter of significant concern for feminists, not only because they feel oppressed when a male knee touches their own but because it is a "micro-aggression." When men sit with their legs open they might as well just be whipping out their dicks and shooting a load in the nearest woman's face. The Huffington Post notes that Turkish feminists have launched a similar effort entitled "Close Your Legs." One of the slogans is "Don't Occupy My Space."

The international outcry over "Man-spreading" would seem to be little more than eye-roll material, but there are a couple of reasons I think the issue warrants attention by MRA's.

In the first place, it is perhaps the most breathtaking example yet of the "Princess and the Pea" effect. In the West, feminism (the dictionary definition) is completely redundant. Women not only have equal rights to men but significantly more rights. The problem is that an entire generation of females (and many males as well ) have been brainwashed by feminist doctrine into believing that "men have been oppressing women for thousands of years!" and that women are disadvantaged in nearly every aspect of society. Strange, because whereas the recent MRM conference took place in Detroit on a tiny budget, Emma's Watson's speech at the UN was sponsored by JP Morgan. I don't know about you, but when I think "oppressed people" the first image that leaps to mind are those poor disadvantaged bankers on Wall Street.

Feminism is a billion dollar industry. Many people's livelihoods depend on perpetuating the victimhood industrial complex. Unable to find actual oppression against women as a sex, Western feminists are increasingly turning every minor annoyance into an international outrage or profound human rights violation. Either that are they just fabricate statistics. This is extremely ominous for people who care about civil liberties. If feminists were completely in charge of government we would see a level of micro-managing (never-mind micro aggression) that would make North Korea look like an anarchist utopia. The good news is that people with real problems are starting to grow tired of their constant whining.

The second issue regarding "man-spreading" is that it highlights just how out of touch many modern women are with the male experience. This is one of the reasons the MRM is necessary -- to educate women about what it's actually like to be a man. Because feminists assume that male-specific behaviour is almost invariably motivated by malice or some other defect, they never stop to ask themselves whether men might be behaving in a certain way for a good reason. In this case the reason is very good indeed, since it involves the desire not have one's testicles crushed. In the comments of the Mic article, a poster explained man-spreading as follows:

"Is any one here familiar with how a nut cracker works? It is a simple tool made up of 2 rods that are hinged in a "v" shape. You place the nuts down close to the most inner part of the "v" while spreading the 2 rods wide apart. To crack the nuts you simple close the "v" with sufficient pressure. I hope this helps those who don't have nuts to gain some perspective on the issues that those of us who do have nuts face."

Predictably, and giving a whole new meaning to the term "mangina," a few male feminists with tiny balls (apparently both literally and figuratively) have expressed support for the campaign. I'm guessing these men aren't in the habit of talking public transportation, because if I had to sit like a woman on the bus everyday to and from work it would cause considerable discomfort and even pain. In fact, studies have shown that male cyclists are at higher risk for impotence.

So spread those legs, gentlemen, and spread 'em wide. If anyone complains, tell them you're perpetuating the human species. Your sperm is more important than a woman receiving two inches more space when she rides the subway.
