So, I've been seeing a shrink for a couple years, all women. I'm on my third now, first one went back to school, second moved out of country, and third is too new to make opinion on, but happy so far with her.

I've mentioned to them before I consider myself an MRA, but not a "red piller", and that I think both sides do have valid issue to work out, but the extremists are hurting everyone by keeping people from finding agreeable solutions.

As we were wrapping up yesterday, I mentioned the recent "best bulges of the Olympics" post, and pointed out how a "best camel toe" article wouldn't be posted in such a magazine. also a few moments about "mansplaining". and "manspreading" (in her defense, she thought all three were idiotic).

I then bought up the problem with gendered diseases. The first thing to come to mind is always breast cancer. Most people don't believe men can get it. She surprised me by having a (male) friend who died of it. Makes two people i know with such a friend.

I pointed out how it's really harmful because not only is there less research being done, but because these affected men often times aren't diagnosed until too late.

The only corresponding disease I could think of was heart disease, from a few decades back, when it was "common knowledge" that only men had heart attacks.

There are some diseases, of course that only one gender gets. I'm not worried about cervical cancer, for instance.

But I couldn't think of any other gendered diseases, where either sex can get it, but it's considered that only one sex will.

anyone think of any others besides breast cancer?
