In spousal murder cases in large urban counties in 1988, women defendants were more likely than men defendants to have their cases -- diverted, rejected or dismissed (12% vs. 9%) -- result in an acquittal (13% vs. 1%).

Of the men convicted of killing their wives, 94% were sentenced to prison, including 15% who were sentenced to life terms. Women who killed their husbands were less likely to receive a prison sentence: 81% were sentenced to prison, including 8% who received a life term.

Spousal murderers were more likely than nonfamily murderers to be sentenced to probation rather than incarceration (9% vs. 3%). Of the women convicted of killing their husbands, 16% were sentenced to probation compared to 5% of the men who killed their wives.

In large urban counties, the average prison sentence length on a murder or nonnegligent manslaughter conviction (excluding life sentences or the death penalty) was 17.5 years for men convicted of killing their wives and 6.2 years for women convicted of killing their husbands.

As far as I can tell this research was pulled from FBI data? It's a little old, but I doubt things have changed much since then.

This has the same info I quoted.

It comes from the Department of Justice, but if you look for the actual report from the DoJ, it won't break down sentencing by sex that way. So it seems that people who were in contact with the DoJ only had it compiled that way by request.

In my country at least it was also taught to me that women that murder receive a harsher sentence. For women it is a lot harder to commit murder because of the difference in our physical strength(we have no guns here). So for them to commit murder it needs to be planned out so in most cases it is premeditated murder which receives a harsher sentence. I don't know how it is for spousal murder specifically. We only have about 160-180 murders per year and only 9 percent committed by women. So statistics are hard to figure out.

Whites receive the lowest average sentence of 32.1 months. In sharp contrast, Hispanics receive a sentence of 54.1 months and blacks receive 64.1 months, which are 68.5 percent and 99.6 percent larger than the average sentence for whites. Even more pronounced is the difference between males and females. The average sentence for males is 278.4 percent greater than that of females (51.5 versus 18.5 months).
