Hey all, Just FYI, this is just a little bit of a vent. There are obviously more important matters at hand here, I just wanted to let out my emotions a little and thought this might be a good place to do it.

I discovered this subreddit not too long ago, through use of the random button. I had never heard about /r/mensrights before then so thankfully I didn't have any sort of bias about it from reading any of the hate speech you would find around reddit. It thought you all were a bunch of really sensible people and all of the ideas and opinions on this subreddit really made me think. I subscribed and I've been an MRA ever since.

However, I've had a very hard time with speaking out for men's rights, for fear of being ridiculed or disliked... I feel a little ashamed actually. Every time I find a good article about how domestic violence affects men, or maybe feel the need to speak out against circumcision, I gear up to make a post on my Facebook wall, and then just kinda lose my nerve.

I've never been one to really be all preachy about things. I barely even discuss my religion with other people unless they ask. That coupled with the fact that many people tend to disregard or even ridicule discussions that talk about the oppression of men makes it very hard for me to really speak my mind.

I'm wondering if others have had this problem? If so, how did you get over it? Did you lose friends in the process? I don't know. I was just feeling a little down about it. I've seen similar threads on this subreddit where men have vented their feelings about the movement so I thought I'd try my hand haha.

Anyways, to those of you who decided to read this wall of text, I thank you for listening (reading?) and taking my thoughts into consideration.
