Found this on Twitter/X. Not that anyone expects meaningful conversation from there, but someone made this in rebuttal to a billboard seen that says "Teach your son to respect women." And of course we have yet to see a similar one also teaching daughters to respect men. Better still, how about teach both that respect is earned and it's earned not by gender but by being a kind a decent person who does things that merit respect? I've always taken issue with the notion of respecting women just for their gender and also think respecting men just for being male is equally asburd. Respect should always be earned and nobody should automatically be granted it due to something insignificant like gender. I think unfortunately this whole notion of "respect women no matter what" is why so many women and girls get away with wrongdoing and are seldomly reprimanded for it. Respect is de-valued and cheapened when it's granted to someone purely on something as trivial as their gender.
