Most young men hooking up, are trying to avoid fatherhood and STD's. This whole stealthing thing would kinda be going against that grain. Seems completely bizarre to me.

No reason to suggest it's a new trend, but the term for it in the DV industry is coercive reproduction control, and is experienced by about 10% of men over their lifetimes vs about 9% of women, e.g. women do it slightly more than men. (From The National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey)

Considering this is only people who KNOW their partner lied about a birth control method and your less likely to figure out someone lied about the pill than condoms, it's probably more lopsided than that.

Does Stealthing exist - yes - it was even a feature of the Tomas Harris Book "Hannibal Rissing (2009)".

I've come across discussions of it in the G.A.Y. community since the 1980's and the advent of AIDS - but I have yet to encounter an actual person stealthed in some 30 years.

It has all the features of Urban Legend. That one person has written a blog post on how to stealth does not even mean they have done it. Cyber Attention seeking is the more likely explanation for that individual's conduct - though they could also just be a psychopath.

Is Stealthing a Trend - No!

I keep wondering about the timing of this issues coming up as it relates to accusations against Julian Assange! Given that link and media, it can't be assumed to be coincidental!

It's not a trend. But I mean I've heard of it happening. I had maybe 2-3 gal pals say they've caught a guy taking the condom off at one point or noticed they had taken it off. But it's not like an epidemic. It's just dumb mother fuckers not assessing their risks in the moment of pure horniness.

These articles refer to sites that allegedly promote the practice, but fail to identify any of them. It would appear to be filler material for a slow news day. Another thread on this subject suggests that 1. It is an attempt to whip up anti-male attitudes and 2. It relates to the movement that wants Julian Assange to be tried by an inquisition.

What is Stealthing?
Stealthing is a form of sneakily compromising, tampering with or removing a condom
Stealthing can involve someone strategically damaging a condom before intercourse, or the stealthy removal of the condom during intercourse. In the practice of condom stealthing, either party can be the deceptive one.
The receiving partner can damage the condom, either by poking holes in it, or suggesting to use a non-condom safe lubricant, like oil. On the other hand, the non-receptive partner can take the condom off during coitus. This condom removal technique is most common during doggy style, during which it is harder to see what is going on behind the receiving partner (unless mirrors are present).
Stealthing can occur between partners of any sexual preference, but is most commonly associated with women who are trying to become pregnant by poking holes in a condom, as in the banned clothing ad from Disigual ...., or by HIV positive people in the POZ scene who find gratification through the transmission of the virus. However, anyone can stealth– so even people in long term, monogamous and STD-free relationships should beware.
