Teach men not to jump off cliffs.

The writer didn't directly say he had a history of mental health problems but mentioning it as a complicating factor in some cases put the question on the table, not that it wasn't there before.
Possibly it was a hint derived from confidential sources.

The HR policy of automatically instantly suspending the accused comes from protecting the company against suits from the accuser I imagine, but it is terribly hard on the accused especially as protecting the accuser may mean they are not be allowed to know who accused them or what it is about. Every real or possible indiscretion from their time at the company will race around their mind. They don't know what will come out and will fear the worst.

You know. It always strikes me as interesting that the metoo people are very okay with this king of thing - but if we talk about men being falsely accused, suddenly there's a woman who might not come forward because people might think she's lying. It's the empathy gap in a nutshell.

I often get the feeling they imagine how bad it is to be genuinely accused, not how bad it is to be falsely accused.

[–]Men-Are-Human 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Maybe. I think they basically don't believe in false accusations at all, but are trying to cover it up.

I have a theory on that too. Feminists find it hard to believe false accusations are as common as they are, because they think about the kind of women they know.

They understand there are flaky feminists who can make debatable accusations involving where the line is drawn on consent, that sort of thing. But that is all they know, and they know those cases are unlikely to be prosecutable anyway. Also they know how rare it is for rapes to even be reported to police. You can argue about surveys giving 10-20% (or 30% for one in the US) but women know from their own contacts how rare reporting is.

Feminism by its nature is a movement of intellectuals, people who read books about ideas. They are tend to be middle class, educated and at the privileged end of society. The standard of grammar in feminists comments sections is high.

I have read a lot of summaries of false accusations from studies on FA. The bulk of them seem to come from people feminists are less likely to mix with, both from circumstances and personality. There are a lot of stories of uneducated young women who desperately and stupidly try to use a false allegation to solve a problem springing from their lack of power and autonomy.
Mental illness is another common theme. (This is also an obvious reason why genuine rapists find mentally ill women so attractive).

And then there are the malicious accusations, for revenge for hurt feelings or whatever. Those could be any type of women but my impression is they are mostly not exactly the booky type.

Interesting ideas. Thanks a lot.

Every real or possible indiscretion

You're forgetting false accusations. Socially they are treated the same way. Believe all women.

For suicides to have a chilling effect these #Metoo supporters would have to have a sense of human empathy for men and they don't.

[–]M_Justice[S] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Agreed. The fact that the media is more concerned with a slackening of #metoo allegations as opposed to male suicides is very disturbing. Wouldn’t want women to stop speaking up because some poor lads are killing themselves.

[–]omegaphallic 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It's the complete dehumanization of men, their witch hunt trumps human lives.

[–]M_Justice[S] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sad and sickening. When women wonder where all the men have gone, they will then claim they are being abused by the silence.

[–]omegaphallic 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yep. But te feminists are making their bed for them.
