That's weird. The way you come into your gender and get comfortable with it is by going through puberty. You transform from a more sexless more androgynous version of yourself into a male or female human that's capable of reproduction.

This idea that by never experiencing being the sex you were born as, you can make some kind of purely mental decision about what you want to be based on what seems cool at the time is really silly. Especially when the end result of being trans isn't actually becoming the opposite sex, but just a chemically fucked up and mangled hybrid that's neither sex.

When I was a child I behaved so feminine to point where I would frequently cross dress including make up, played with dolls inside all day, and would tell my parents I wanted to be "pretty like the other girls". I had the mentality of a girl and it didn't help that my mother condoned it. In school all my teachers insisted I was homosexual at the very least, and I was constantly told I was. The only one who saw me as a male and didn't challenge my sexuality was my father. This went on until I was 11.

Well my father was right. I wasn't homosexual, and I never have been. Turns out I'm 100% straight and with a typical male mind, and I never actually felt that I was supposed to be born a female either. Albeit weird, it was definitely just a phase (my guess is because I was isolated in a dangerous country at the time and the few other children I was able to spend time with were all female).

If I'd been allowed to have a sex-change at that age I might have done it, not because I felt like a woman, I didn't, but because basically everyone except my father told me I was, and that shit is confusing when you're too young to think for yourself.

The gender war became much worse once the LGBTs instead of just keeping their ways to themselves, decided to have a say in normal people's lives as well and impose their ideas on mainstream society. That's one reason why psychology seems so bizarre now - it's all slanted to appease them, and is probably written by them up there as well.

Not saying this is okay at all, but I am just going to drop some facts. This is shit that I have just learned recently from lecture so I'm pulling this all from my head so there might be some inconsistencies.

The American Medical Association and the Endocrine Society both support treatment of young children who display symptoms of or express verbally gender dysphoria. The supported treatment plan is treatment with a GnRH agonist, which causes a massive release of pituitary hormones that eventually overloads the hypothalamus, causing a sustained suppression of hypothalamic hormone secretions until the person reaches an appropriate age to determine the gender they desire to be (i.e. age 16-18).

Most girls hit puberty around 10 years of age, and most boys hit puberty around 12. A GnRH delays the hormone surge seen in puberty, preventing development of secondary sexual characteristics and the other developmental effects that would come with a surge in Estrogen/Testosterone.

So essentially you keep children a blank slate until they are mature enough to make a decision about their gender themselves, at which point you begin hormonal therapy that mimics puberty for their desired gender. Now that will have no effect on primary sex characteristics like having a cock and balls, but it will have an effect on your voice, hair patterns, body fat distribution, and other secondary characteristics that differ between males and females.

Now science aside, time to get to the politics. I get that there has become this large-scale feminization of men in Western society. However, in the case of trans children, I think the media is taking an extremely small part of the population and giving them a voice on the national stage, making it appear as if this is more common or wide spread. Not really that big of an issue or something I think TRP needs to cover.

These hormones can safely suppress puberty by blocking the production of the principal sex hormones: estrogen and testosterone. Fully reversible, this treatment gives young people time to achieve greater self-awareness of their gender identification. If and when appropriate, our experts may administer cross-gender sex hormones.

No mention of age or how long such treatment would last. Searching the site shows no results for trials related to "gender", "dysphoria", or "trans". I don't personally know the long-term effects of delaying puberty onset, but I'd assume that if the process has already gone through trials that the risks are minimal. Either way, if a kid wants to and their parents allow it, who the hell cares?

I’m very interested in the results of this study. As far as I understand, these kids aren’t going through with a full sex change (which some are implying) but are delaying the years in which puberty occurs. If the results come out to be neutral, as in there is no significant negative effects to the patients(mentally and physically), this could be a good thing no? Or at the very least just a waste of money Ike spent nothing going through puberty. And like some of the comments are saying this kind of thing afflicts a very small portion of the population, so this is in general a non problem no matter how triggered by the media coverage of trans issues you are. However if negative results, this treated should be killed immediately.
