Special interest groups and private foundations have long histories of directed scholarships. If you are part of a particular group that wishes to promote itself, someone has probably set aside money for a scholarship. Otherwise, unless you are academically or athletically extraordinary, or rich, Federal loans are your best bet.

My college has one male-only scholarship. Of course, it's one-fifth of the amount the female-only one pays out.

Aside from scholarships for men wishing to enter female dominated fields, there should also be incentives for men looking to become teachers. The boys of tomorrow depend on it.

The primary justification for female only scholarships is that women are in the minority. Not only is this not true in general college populations now, but now, when males are the minority in certain fields, there are hardly any scholarships only for them. For those of us that say that Feminism will come to bite women in the ass when it is women who represent the majority, think again. Feminism is the tool of female supremacy, and it will never be used to help men.

Can't say I'm familiar with nursing programs, but I do understand the frustration of not being correct for a scholarship. It's the same way with minority scholarships. I get so annoyed when I qualify perfect for a scholarship, but I'm not black, or Asian, or whatever. But yet, if someone were to start a scholarship for a majority class say white people or a male-centered scholarship it would be rac/sexist. The double standard in scholarships is all too prevalent.

My best advice would be to find neutral scholarships. This can be quite difficult, but potentially very rewarding.

Hey! You are absolutely right! Nursing is one of the filed where men are considered minority and getting a financial aid through scholarships and grants are pain since they tend to go quickly. I also went to the same site and found these scholarships available to all age men, especially for dads.

Don't get disappointed if you don't find proper scholarships as i said it tends to go quickly and it has so many requirements which you sometimes never meet. just keep on looking. This above site is a very good source for scholarships for all men. keep on looking as malenursing site updates many scholarships almost everyday.

As a fellow male nursing student i understand that it is difficult to get scholarships specifically for male nurses. But i have been able to find many scholarships, for nurses, open to both genders. I know this doesnt fix the problem that exist for gender specific scholarships (which is a joke considering most nursing organizations want to increase male ratios in the work place).

There's scholarship's for being left handed, for being black, Hispanic, a foreigner, female, for having a specific culture/race in your ancestors. Millions of them!

The people who have the money choose what way they want to with these private scholarships. Look up affirmative action.

The thing about most scholarships is that it's completely at the whim of the provider and not regulated by legal standards. They can be as discriminatory as they want, simply because they are giving money away.

That said, you're entering/entered a field that you can get several scholarships for being a man. While the prospects for women are far greater (mostly sciences pressing scholarships for women), there's still female dominated fields that men can get scholarships for, simply for being a man.
