I think we should go all out crazy on mens issues. We should care about women issues too. But fuck the feminists issues

Although I, too, find it scary that someone as traditionally conservative as Kavanaugh should tip the scales of a Supreme Court that is, by far, much more politically influential than similar bodies in other countries, and find it unconscionable that he appears to have views that would protect the President from criminal charges, Senator Harris's question on laws that impinge on bodily integrity was the most cringeworthy part of Democrats' attempt to scuttle the process.

First, although, as a European, I support abortion rights (and grew up in a country where they were broadly accepted), to imply that restricting abortion is motivated by restricting bodily integrity is disingenuous or even callous - there is, after all, a budding human being involved.

Second, the article neglects perhaps the most blatant - and parallel - example of failing to protect bodily integrity - the lack of restrictions on - and in part downright promotion of - infant circumcisions for boys.

But overall, I am positively surprised at such a strong statement on men's rights in the press. True, NYP is decidedly right wing - but even the right wing media have been more concerned with sticking it to the left than any true compassion for men on par with women. A slight shift towards the latter is what we should welcome most of all.

I've noticed this with tradthots : they'll say this, but they will never say something should be done about it. They just want feminists to get down from the high horse and join them in silently profiting off of Men. Don't trust these fucking cunts. Like all right-wingers they'll only be involved with Men's Rights for as long as it makes them seem counter-culture.

[–]ronin_in_the_wind 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

I had to look up what a tradthot is, I recently saw Candace Owens on a podcast and I think that word sums her up perfectly. We should still acknowledge when they make good points just make sure not to consider them allies.

[–]Lethn 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I never got the thot thing myself, it's language evolving lol like when everyone uses the cuck insult :P Yeah, what he's referring to are traditionalist women or gold diggers who want to take advantage of men. Traditionalists are not your friends, they may pretend to be sympathetic to the plight of men but the reality is they're the ones who want to reverse everything and force men to go along with marriage and be the 'provider' for a woman.

[–]The_Best_01 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Do all traditional women want to "take advantage" of men though?

[–]Lethn 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No, not all, you could say that about feminists though I guess, the overall ideology however rules against men. They are after all part of an ideology who originally though of the concept of marriage in the first place.

To me though I find the whole idea of traditionalism just as sinister as feminism. Both revolves around pushing expectations onto young people and depending how extreme they are people supporting these ideologies force them into it if they can get away with it.

Certainly, you can get some really nice traditionalist girls out there, just like you can to a degree get nice feminist women but in the end they still quite happily take advantage of both these ideologies to get what they want out of a man in order to further themselves.

True equality doesn't do this, it's based on mutual respect for one another, something that these ideologies are completely against.

If I recall correctly, marriage first began as an economic contract, a way to assure a woman that she wouldn't starve if he married her, because most women legit couldn't work until fairly recently. And the woman had more incentive to stay with the guy. So it was pragmatic.

Now though, it provides a net advantage for women, and zero advantage for men, at best. So I agree a lot of trad women would definitely knowingly leech off a guy. But I'm willing to bet there's far more trad women than feminist women that wouldn't consciously take advantage.

Especially since Owens used to be a leftist, and then jumped on the right-wing bandwagon after becoming popular. She's an idiot and a phony.

Yeah whenever I hear someone say "I used to be a X party and now I'm the [opposite party]" I'm immediately skeptical.

Don't get me wrong, sometimes people's views change over time and they undergo awakenings that result in them going to the opposite party but when your stances do a 180 overnight it's a good indication that you're not to be taken seriously.

Right.

The 10 industries with the most workplace-related deaths are almost entirely stocked with men: truck drivers, steel workers, refuse collectors

what the fuck?

[+]lord-deathquake1 points 7 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

I mean, most of their job is driving around and stopping frequently. I imagine there are quite a few car accidents both in and out of the truck. Plus the unfortunate cases of trouble with heavy, powerful machinery or rare diseases or injuries from unsafely disposed of dangerous materials.

[+]Vandechoz1 points 7 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

car accidents sire, maybe, but they're in the larger/stronger vehicle, and usually in low-speed areas, so I don't see how death could be a common result

I must just be underestimating the machinery accidents

[–]chadwickofwv 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You're also forgetting about the constant heavy lifting and exposure to exhaust fumes.

[–]Absocks 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah! I learned a couple weeks ago that one of the original strike/civil rights marches that Martin Luther King was involved with was the Sanitation Worker strike in the south, where a freak accident occurred and workers ended up falling into the compactor of the garbage truck and were killed. There had been a really bad rainstorm and they were taking shelter in the back of the truck (they weren't allowed to take shelter anywhere else, because Jim Crow) and a falling tree branch activated the compactor.

That shit is dangerous

[–]karatdem 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As is the racist NYT.

[–]prodevel 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I know the NYP isn't the best of rags but my God at least replace the word woke with aware or something.

As inappropriate as Harris' line of questioning was, Kavanaugh is a threat to our democracy.

[–]Hillary_For_Prison 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

TIL: constitutional originalist is threat to democracy.

But we are a constitutional republic, not a democracy.

[–]Life-is-Crazy -3 points-2 points-1 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He contradicted himself in the past and failed to explain where he stands in regard to constitutional violations. But here you are asserting that you know where he does.

[–]kartu3 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, tabloids are better than nothing, I guess.
