This straight lady agrees. In my 61 years just as many women have tried to sexually assault me as men. I thank God I grew up with men who taught me how to fight and made me physically stronger. I love men and think it is very unfair to put good men and evil men in the same group. Those women need to realize it is Good against Evil, it is not gender against gender. I will rather face a good man than a bear is what they should say. To all you good men out there, we moral, good ladies love you. Too bad you hear from the hateful ones the most. I do not want to be grouped with those women, I rather face a bear. Lol!

One thing that annoys me about the "man or bear" thing is when they back it up with "well more women are hurt by men than bears per year!" ... yea. Because we encounter men way more often per day than bears. I guarantee you if I walked into home depot, and instead of there being twenty men inside, there were twenty grizzly bears, I'd fair a lot worse than if it were just the men.

I think the last time I even saw a bear irl was when I was in 10th grade. Meanwhile, I probably walk past hundreds per day at work.

Like I get it, many people would prefer to be killed than violated, but lets not pretend that bears are virtually harmless in comparison.

There's also the argument that "well the bear doesn't know any better so it's fine." Why care about whether it "knows" anything? Having your guts ripped out while you're still breathing is gonna hurt just as bad either way.

Slightly off-topic but related, a list of common considerations that almost always get overlooked by the respondents to the Man v Bear question.

Man - It is far more likely than not that ‘most men would do absolutely nothing’ and we’re talking here of all but an extremely small fraction of a percentile of men would sexually assault a complete stranger upon randomly meeting them in a chance encounter in the wild. - Even in the immensely unlikely event that the man encountered, in fact did have a history of sexual misconduct, it does not automatically mean he’s is going to assault you or do anything nefarious at that moment in time. Even a hardened sex offender is not constantly switched on proactively looking to act on his mental illness to sexually assault every moment of every day 24/7. For example, even in this instance the man having been randomly teleported to the wilderness, is more likely to be disoriented, concerned for his safety and in fact welcoming of seeing another human being, as we are ultimately social pack animals, feeling safer in numbers. Sexually assaulting a complete stranger, would certainly not be a top priority for them, in the short term. The hypothetical does not suggest that this man and woman, spend any considerable amount of time together; it is suggesting a chance encounter, that should in essence be minutes, maybe hours, but certainly not days, weeks, months or longer. It must also be a consideration that the vast majority of sexual assault is not committed by a complete stranger in a chance encounter as a crime of opportunity as it would be in this hypothetical; the crime of sexual assault is it’s in most part carried out by someone the victim already knows and a crime that’s planned and executed over time.

Bear - 30% of the worldwide bear population is considered extremely dangerous and will in all but every instance kill you upon a chance encounter in the wilderness. The remaining 70% the worldwide bear population may kill you, but are far less likely to. However, outside of North America, an encounter in the wild with 97% of the bear population would likely result in death, with the remaining 3% being extremely likely to pose no risk at all. - The method that you’re killed by a bear carries no guarantee of being a painless and instantaneous death. There is a considerable chance of it being a slow and painful death, as you bleed out, watch yourself eaten alive or worse. In the event that as a missing person, people search for you and a rescuer discovers and saves you pre-death, but severely injured, there need be consideration to: a) the potential of lifelong extreme mental trauma that may come from the experience of the pain, the slow contemplation of death, witnessing yourself being eaten alive plus much more and worse. b) the potential of a future existence, with one’s severely damaged body, that may result in one or many life inhibiting disabilities. These could be anything from being blinded, having considerable facial/body deformities, physically losing/operation of some or all even all limbs.
