I recently stumbled across r/MensRights and really liked what I saw. As a woman, I support men's rights as much as I support women's rights. I saw What's the Difference Between the Men's Right Movement and Feminism in the sidebar and read it thinking it would be a nice article on how the MR-movement and the WR-movement aren't all that different. I was very wrong.

First of all, the author uses a "feminist bigot" and a neutral-ground person to support his claims. That would be like trying to prove Democrats are better by using a undecided Centrist and a Republican. Wouldn't it make more sense to have a MRA also interviewed? The article is very biased.

Second, the article equates feminism with bigotry. Yes, some feminists are anti-men, just as there are outliers in every population. Some men are anti-women, but they are not what the MRM is about. Many feminists are simply advocating for women's rights, just as MRAs are advocating for men's rights. The dictionary defines "the doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men." or "an organized movement for the attainment of such rights for women." Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see any anti-male sentiment in either of those definitions.

The entire article was bringing down one movement while placing another on a pedestal. At the end, the author states "One side endorses legal bigotry while the other seeks to end it." That statement could not be any false. Feminism is not about bringing down men, it's about bringing women up. Men's rights and women's rights are not mutually exclusive. They can, and should, exist together.

Yes, I've read all of the FAQs. I realize neither feminism or the MRM is about equality per se but equal rights for the specific gender. Then according to this article, the MRM should be just as bad as feminism. But in reality, neither are bad.

Most of what I read on /r/MensRights is not the sentiment of this article. Most MRAs realize that there are challenges faced by both genders. I do see feminist-bashing on here, but it is definitely a small portion of this subreddit. I wholeheartedly agree with the MRM, but feel like it does not support of /r/MensRights is really about, and therefore should not be in the sidebar or endorced by MR. I urge the mods to reread the article, remove the article from the sidebar and possibly replace it with a better article.
