Complaints by men are often disregarded at the source. If they're looking at filed police reports, then the fact that cops encourage women to file reports and discourage men from filing reports is going to substantially bias the results.

The 85% statistic comes from a twelve-year-old study, and this bias was even worse then.

You want to read the work of John Archer doctor of psychology who specializes in aggression. His work shows that both men and women are equally as aggressive and his early work a meta-analysis (over 200 studies reviewed) showed that as women are more likely to instigate violence, especially against children.

I've yet to look at your study. Typically ones that show a pronounced bias rely on police reports (And police are generally expected to arrest the man in the case of mutual violence, regardless of who hit first or who hit harder)

The other frequent source of bias is how the questions is worded. Men aren't usually conditioned to see themselves as victims of domestic violence. So if you ask "Have you ever been a victim of domestic abuse?", women will be more likely to say yes. But if you ask about actual behavior, eg. "Has your partner ever punched you, intending to cause physical harm?", then men and women say similar things.

But generally I use these three links to say that men and women commit the same levels of domestic abuse:
