So I just joined this subreddit today, after watching this movie Wedding Crashers with my mom and my sister. There is a scene in it where one of the main characters (a man) is tied down to his bed and raped by a woman, played off for laughs, and then he ends up with this same woman later on in the movie. Being a sexual assault victim myself, I found it abhorrent and unfunny. However, my mom and sister were laughing the whole time. I don’t understand why even today, even in 2020 where my friends all understand that rape against men is just as bad, that this is funny to two women in my family. I feel disgusted, and completely disassociated from the movie entirely after the scene.
