The thing I find interesting about this issue is how many people characterised it as him "cornering her" and that she was "trapped". A very big deal was made out of it. Presumably the implication is that even though she was within reach of a door, he, solely by being male, would be able to overpower her, prevent her from leaving, and prevent her from screaming for help.

Now, ignoring how powerless and fragile this assumes women to be, wouldn't this "problem" exist even if he didn't know who she was, wasn't interested in her, didn't speak to her, and didn't even look at her?

In other words, aren't the people who press that particular point essentially arguing for gender apartheid; that a man must never be allowed to be alone with a woman if they do not know each other, in case he rapes her?

the comparisons between the two events are kind of eye opening.

i have always despised 'victim' feminism, but to compare it to the stanford prison experiment has made me think of it in a new way.
