What are the odds they would all be on reddit in this askreddit thread?

Remember the infograph is comparing people who FEEL they were victim of rape based on the NCVSurveys to cases of false accusations where a third party (usually a detective or someone within the crime reporting agency) has determined the accusation to be false. This means that in order for it to count as a false accusation they determining body must KNOW that there was no rape but that it was reported as a rape.

From the Enliven's source for false accusations (this on pg 3):

Rather, investigators and prosecutors must base all final judgments of a sexual assault report on the findings from a thorough, evidence-based investigation. The determination that a report is false can then only be made when there is sufficient evidence to establish that the sexual assault did not happen (was not completed or attempted.)

So to be counted as a rape victim you just have to feel like the victim of rape but to be counted as a victim of a false accusation a prosecutorial body must decide not only that the charges are a waste of time and resources but are demonstrably false. This is a really really big difference.

The graphic also assumes that you arent a victim of a false accusation unless you are accused before the police/state but the askreddit thread Ive linked to shows that you can be a victim of a false accusation without the police ever being involved. You can still be ostracized from your friends and community. Its true that being a social pariah with no criminal record and freedom is better than jail but lets not write it off like its nothing.

A true comparison would be calling a statistical sample and asking how many people felt they were the victims of a false accusation and then based on just their feelings deciding that they were, in fact, victims. Then you would make some bullshit chart with these new numbers alongside the NCVS numbers.
