The whole thing is just a joke. I'm on the side of legalizing and regulating it. Makes it better for everyone involved. Prohibition didn't work, the war on drugs didn't work, why do we think this ban is doing any good?

The best example of this sort of "male victims only count as their impact on women" thing is with false accusations. How many time shave you heard that the "real" victims of false accusations are women who are real victims who may as a result have their stories questioned? Absolutely disgusting. It's a very common thing to do.

Prostitution is illegal because women want to maintain their sexual power over men. That's it. That's why so many tradcon women and femninists see eye to eye on the issue. And it's why tradcon women as well as feminists have attempted to ban pornography. None of the excuses used by people to justify keeping prostitution illegal stand up to scrutiny. The Nordic/Canadian model just drives sex workers further underground. Indeed it's abundantly clear that legalizing it would not only help men but it would make the lives of sex workers much less dangerous. It would also dramatically lower STD rates because there would be regulatory mechanisms put in place. And it would help disabled men who are otherwise incapable of having sex.

To their credit, Amnesty International has recommended decriminalizing prostitution. They actually listened to what sex workers had to say.

Roy Baumeister is one of the few academics who has been bold enough to tell the truth about this issue. (notably he has also committed the academic equivalent of blasphemy by suggesting that men historically dominated the workplace because they are simply better at creating large institutions).

"Sexual marketplaces take the shape they do because nature has biologically built a disadvantage into men: a huge desire for sex that makes men dependent on women. Men’s greater desire puts them at a disadvantage, just as when two parties are negotiating a possible sale or deal, the one who is more eager to make the deal is in a weaker position than the one who is willing to walk away without the deal. Women certainly desire sex too — but as long as most women desire it less than most men, women have a collective advantage, and social roles and interactions will follow scripts that give women greater power than men (Baumeister et al.2001).

"We have even concluded that the cultural suppression of female sexuality throughout much of history and across many different cultures has largely had its roots in the quest for marketplace advantage (see Baumeister and Twenge 2002). Women have often sustained their advantage over men by putting pressure on each other to restrict the supply of sex available to men. As with any monopoly or cartel, restricting the supply leads to a higher price…the evidence overwhelmingly indicated that the cultural suppression of female sexuality is propagated and sustained by women (Baumeister and Twenge 2002)."

I live in australia, prostitution is legal, there are websites, brothels, and all that, its safe as hell, because there aren't traditional pimps and all that, there are contracts, laws, taxes, all that shit.

Its also highly lucrative, as in if you're good at it ,you can make more money in a few hours than most people do in a month. At pretty much every level legalization is better than banning.

But you'll likely never hear that in America where it counts.

I get that we don't want to punish sex traffic slaves for being victims, but I'm pretty sure we can recognize sex traffic slaves from sex workers.

We don't want to punish people who buy drugs because lot of women are in this, but not lot of women are selling drugs.

It's always the same story.

Isn’t being charged money for sexual encounters oppressive though? How twisted is it that a biological imperative like sex is used to make a profit. It can be incredibly addicting (and The industry is entirely targeted towards taking advantage of males)

It just doesn’t seem like a level playing field to me. Legalizing prostitution wouldn’t play out evenly for men and women.

Please note, I have similar feelings towards the way sugar is sold and advertised to children. It’s a crime in my book. Also antidepressants...

I dunno. I haven’t formally developed a strong opinion one way or another. But something just doesn’t seem right. Seems like men are getting the fuzzy end of the lollipop in that deal.
