I was waiting at the automotive shop, and was watching the telly, and laughing with a male about how absurd the female was in assuming (thanks to society and her "lawyer") that she would get full custody, and is able to completely not allow the child to see it's father. I forgot how funny Judge Judy was, and I'm glad I could have a dialogue with someone else that I've never met before, and show there are people out there that think this mentality is wrong.
Hooked by the juicy afternoon drivel, I went home and started watching Judge Judy- who I thought really pioneered for equality, maybe? After watching her comment on "fathers are not second class citizens" I really think she just wants what's best for the children.
Since all the episode videos on Youtube are crap copies I went to her site- and saw this poll:
"Should paternity testing be mandatory for custody?"
I chose yes- initially. I assumed "of course, you pay child support- you have rights"
But without a paternity test, you don't actually know if the kid is your "financial and societal" responsibility.
I got to thinking, I've asked someone who has a "EOW" child about this too- "What if you found out it wasn't yours?"
Sure, in the first few months after, the baby doesn't know you.... but what if you're 10 years in, EOW or 50/50 and the kid is "yours" for all intents and purposes?
Randomly have a mandated paternity test- poof; this kid you are "attached" to isn't even yours?
Obviously the courts pick the mother, and you lose rights- sure you don't have to (or rather, you do still have to because "reasons") pay child support, but you never see "your" child again?

So, I vote yes (so initially, one would know if it's theirs)- and the answer is winning at "no"
I wonder how much of that is rooted in females latching on to someone and trapping them.
