It's highly segregated and sexist work environment. The old-timers in leadership positions tend to be old-fashioned white knights if they are men, or curmudgeony women telling the younger female recruits they've got to "man-up," so to speak. The threat of accusation of sexual harassment is a specter that follows you around. This is for a few reasons: 1) It's easy ammunition 2) the training and prevailing mentality creates a situation where men are thought of as predators or perps, women are thought of as victims, despite evidence that the females, particularly juvenile offenders, are very difficult. 3) instances where men are victims of sexual assault or false accusations, while evident, are glossed over.

I'm just scratching the surface here. I find that I've gotta hold my tongue on a lot of stuff.
