Yep Im an aussie! We don’t have alot of posters or billboards for anything to do with mens health so this was great to see

That's not true. Men's health is well-supported in Australia. Movember as mentioned has been a big thing for a number of years. Small but known companies like Grill'd have initiatives, and all the way up to government advertising, particularly with the current ads around Instagram and Facebook, we certainly have suitable awareness.

I do not believe we have the same battles going on. Australian women have held rights for as long as any other country. We have proven women in leadership roles and roles of power. We are a meritocracy. We don't have legions of old men to despise. There's no division. We are really fortunate with our power balance here. If a women is chosen for something, including awareness for health, over a man and vica versa, there shouldn't be a problem, because we are all being accounted for, something I'm proud of in this country.

I agree with you on most accounts, Australia has been really good with equal opportunity. But lately there really feels like a change is in the air. Ever since the #metoo movement, there really has been a lot more exclusion of men when it comes to these things which is really starting to get to me.

Look at the domestic violence campaigns where men seem to only be the aggressors, the feminist movements in the Unis (They blocked Mens Shed from forming as a group in some universities), the push to change fathers day to "Special persons day" but keep mother's day, and, all the government quotas to have 50% women in government employment, but no such quota for men in female dominated roles like teaching and nursing (in fact they still have the female quota).

Even the recent government mental health inquiry into mental health with the sole purpose of reducing suicide by 50% ended up just giving additional funding to youth mental health services, even though 75% of all suicides in Australia are adult males.

Australia really is starting to slip on men's rights, and it's really depressing. I don't know why you are being downvoted though, you are contributing to the conversation.

Again, not true, you might just be noticing it differently... Go to Qldgov to Instagram for instance. Only mention of domestic violence depicts a women with a message saying "perpetrators of domestic violence are often really good at hiding their behaviour". Other parts of this campaign include the direct inclusion of men. For instance, on television and YouTube, a women comes into the garage where a man is fixing his child's bike. The mother tells the child not to get their hopes up as the father is pathetic. Again "domestic violence isnt always perpetrated by those we think".... Its a direct campaign about bringing about the awareness of emotional and mental abuse. Its a perfect example as to why you don't have to say "HEY WOMEN COMMIT MORE EMOTIONAL ABUSE AND MEN PHYSICAL ABUSE", rather, we can understand to be more wary of stereotypes...

I go to uni. I don't see the divisions. We should be proud of our higher education and trade skills industries in terms of participation. Should we start complaining there aren't enough women represented in trade unions? Again, it's only anecdotal to my school, but we aren't subjugated or oppressed in any way as a gender. They are pushing feminism as a component in many subjects however. But you should be just as scared of sclocislism and Cultural Marxism on that note. Ive done welfare and gender studies, and its not as scary as you'd think. Feminism is only one component that simply turns as many people completely off as it entertains, awareness isn't always good for a cause, thankfully. The cultural Marxism is very real.

I musta been sleeping on that one. Who's trying to change fathers day exactly? What gender quotas in government? Are you literally perpetuating hearsay? Like a... Woman! I kid, but women like Julie Bishop laugh at you.

Do you want quotas? It's almost as if our country encourages traditional gender roles! Shock! They don't need to encourage more men into the current form of teaching, nor nursing, it's a free choice option. Government held positions are gained in non-traditional ways, ie you can't just sign up. Australia may recognise men are more aggressive (positive) in attaining positions of power (policy and the like), and so encourage women that may not naturally consider those roles. We know aggression can get you the role, but doesn't translate to performing the role. Unlike teaching or nursing.

Mental health should always be 50/50 as we do not truly understand it... Suicide in men is greatly different to women. Again, there's no "women's specific" suicide month, yet men do have Movember which brings awareness to this affliction. I personally think suicide is a personal right, and it's something that will always affect the purpose of men. We are a strange species that always hangs around 50/50 despite more makes being born on average. We even ourselves out through war, suicide, and sexuality. I digress, but you just can't say there's not as much awareness for men suicide, and then not acknowledge why there's generally more attention given to women in domestic abuse campaigns, as they are the prominent victim.

Im yet to see how we are slipping as a country on mens rights. Our females love our males. Our females are out there driving trucks underground, and running the country. From the richest, to the most powerful, women have done a good job in helping run this country. Don't be threatened, support anybody that's doing a good job. Our men aren't scared by our women, and our men aren't scared of our women.

Be scared of the Marxism. They hate the capitalist "man" in power. They hate the nuclear family as it serves capitalism and the perpetuation of normalised patriarchy at the home level.

Australia is still very traditional, we aren't slipping. We just need men to stop biyching about things, we expect women to do that.

I am a government employee, I can assure you there are female quotas in the government jobs, just because it's not happening to parliament, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I would also like to point out that the white ribbon Domestic violence campaigns, which has the slogan of "Violence against Women and children is never ok" happens right in the middle of Movember.

There are dozens of reasons to encourage males to teaching, Male teachers had a huge role in my life. My point is why is there a quota for female train drivers or Teachers, but not for men, regardless of of the ratios?

Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

What's with the passive aggression sheesh, maybe it's because I live in a different state, sorry dude. https://youtu.be/IQgnrvjIUCY this is a Queensland campaign, aimed at general domestic violence. Acknowledges emotional abuse, depicts a women doing it. Acknowledges physical abuse, depicts a male perpetrator, but both female and male in their own capacity to stop it. Seems absolutely proportionate to me...

Stats don't lie too much. Domestic violence is difficult to understand because of that emotional component, but stereotypes exist for a reason, and the most glaring is a man's physical ability over a women. Men simply commit more violence, more often on each other, which is where empathy can be found. Many of us know what it's like to be bullied, and are thankful we are removed from those inescapable environments. Unfortunately relationships can be somewhat inescapable. It's not the same for either sex.

I'm not sure if you're complaining about white ribbon day, because any awareness on a serious issue is fine by me. Or are you complaining against a lack of awareness for abused men? If men's violence against women gets one day, maybe they need to get 2 or 3 more before we have one for women's violence against men? Or are you saying they should be equal? Which would be ridiculous, because it's not equal.

And again, I can't comment on Sydney University, its not mine, different rules. University of Queensland has exclusively male clubs. Maybe this is just a state thing. Although anastasia palaszczuk has been our premier for a number of years, and we are represented by many females on all levels. There's no doctrine, or war against men that I've seen in my state. I think both sexes compete without consideration for what gender you are.

Again, I agree to an extent the need for a quota in certain government jobs. Scandinavia does fine with theirs. It's a 50/50 population. Our culture is traditionally family of 50/50 rule. I personally think the system needs a shake up, particularly when certain politicians with a family portfolio, put families in detention centers... Not all positions with a quota, but I think some should at least be represented evenly, if only by creating 2 positions. But that's neither here nor there.

Your own personal anecdote for the need of male teachers is only that. Male don't need to be encouraged, just as females don't need to be encouraged about a building trade. Awareness is certainly good, and accessiblilty is paramount. Both sexes have both. Males often find themselves in positions of power in the education system, and shock, females tend to trend to the nurturing side of teaching younger students. Even in Scandinavia where your suggested types of encouragement took place to, again, shock, absolutely no change! Females gravitate to nursing and teaching younger children, and men moved predominantly into stem fields, which in turn becomes higher education, where more male teachers are found. Both are vital, but more kids are being educated than the subjects males tend to teach, thusly less males teach. Don't be ignorant. Just because YOU can't see it. I'd preface by saying I don't agree with everything he says, but Stefan Molyneux has some pretty glaring statistics on gender roles in the workplace... As far as men's rights goes, I think youre angling toward "too many women's rights!", which is not a great attitude. You shouldn't use white ribbon as a sleight against mens rights. Men need to be fully aware of that side of our sex.

That is absolutely not true in no way... I'd say you are obscuring the actual truth behind that one, which is that divorce can be granted to either gender for sexual failure of the defacto, which can lead to a split in assets.

Again, not true, or purposesly obscuring facts. Any partner has a right to their defactos assets, monetary or otherwise, if those assets are deemed shared. Whilst in a relationship, males tend to be the larger majority of income earners, thusly more cases of females seizing assets is prevelant...

Trust me, my head is far from the sand on this one, I've had multiple friends and family go through this process. I mean, you clearly aren't Australian, our version of golddiggers tend to be males, because we have an aged population, majority of which are females. The defacto laws can be pretty scary, but that's what happens when you enter a mature relationship, and it affects either gender. What you're saying is absolute bullshit though. I bet you were expecting to be able to pull up some alimony laws or some shit. Link me up some legitimate information and perhaps my eyes will open, but I had to suffer through that shit at school a few years ago, so I don't think the laws have changed.

What's with the passive aggression

Sorry man, as someone who has PTSD, has spent a large potion of my life in a mental hospital, and a survivor of domestic violence, I really get worked up about it.

No one seems to understand what happens to a man in this situation, there are no domestic violence shelters for men, the police tell you to control your women, and your partner can easily turn around and say she was defending herself and have you hauled away. There is absolutely no help for men in this country regarding mental health outside of men's shed, which is a heavily religious organisation, beyond blue and black dog just refer you to a shrink, and it infuriates me when people claim men don't need any help, or funding for mental health or domestic violence, because I have been there firsthand, been on the streets, been in an ER getting my stomach pumped, because there is no help.

Every day there is a new campaign starting up to help women, and everyday there is a new attack on men, it's little wonder there is so much male suicide, and this will never be addressed because men's lives don't matter anymore.

This is not true. You only need to google "Male teachers" and you will find dozens of studies to the benefits of male teachers.
