TIL: Over a year ago, RAINN declared that "rape culture" doesn't exist. I don't think any feminists listened to them though.

A normal person would ignore the message, upload another image, or reply with something like "hey sorry I couldn't be bothered uploading another one."

Instead you made an unnecessary, rude reply.

Why are you posting this here - it doesn't have anything to do with men's rights. Were you expecting us to give you a medal for being a rude asshole?

[–]the-tominator 7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

By imitating someone, e.g. a feminist, he can be a mirror so she can see what she's like on the outside and maybe realise the stupidity of the whole 'objectification' concept.

[–]JackBinimbul 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Except there is nothing to suggest that this woman is like that.

[–]zktr -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yes there is. She listed her #1 favorite book as a book by a feminist that parrots all the usual talking points. Not just a favorite book - her #1 favorite book. Not #2. Not #7. Nor was it #5. Her #1 favorite.

[–]JackBinimbul 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I like Carl Sagan. Doesn't make me an astrophysicist. You cannot judge an entire person simply by a book they enjoy, otherwise Christians would be in trouble.

If the rest of her profile was full of craziness, sure, but there has been no indication as such. At the heart of it, I think her note was rude and your reply was rude. Everyone in this story is an asshole.

[–]shinarit 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Exactly. I seriously get sad when I see posts like these, upvoted and all. This is almost like behaving like a retarded feminazi, but worse, because you expect a cookie for it.

[–]zktr -3 points-2 points-1 points 11 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

That was the point. It was parody / role reversal.

[–]zktr -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I replied to make a point and to hopefully make her re-examine her views. And I did upload some closer pictures right afterwards anyway. And it has to do with countering 3rd wave feminist illogic, which is the main reason why MRAs exist.

[–]Impacatus 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What happened after?

[–]autechr3 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not sure how wanting to see your face is objectification.. this belongs in /r/cringepics

[–]Githka 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, that is the perfect reply.

[–]Sinisus 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Did she answer?

[–]zktr 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hasn't replied so far. Probably won't.

[–]yelirbear -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

that's pretty rude

[–]zktr 10 points11 points12 points 11 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

I know. The point was to point out feminist hypocrisy by reacting in a way that a feminist might react if the genders were reversed.

[–]Revoran 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's hardly hypocrisy when you don't know her views. You've never even met this person before.

[–]zktr 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She listed a book as her top favorite. I read the description. And I've never encountered a feminist that didn't believe in objectification as a one-way street against women.

[+]yelirbear -9 points-8 points-7 points 11 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

so this person reacted in that way already?

[–]zktr 7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Like I said, she listed a feminist book as her favorite book. I googled the book and it was the typical feminist BS, which always includes "men judging a woman's looks is objectification (so what if women also judge men's looks)".

[–]Revoran 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

You're making a bunch of unfounded assumptions to justify being rude to a stranger. That's all this is.

[–]zktr -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Nope, she listed a book as her top favorite. I googled the book, and based on its description and the fact that it's her favorite book I could conclude beyond a reasonable doubt that she believes that only men "objectify" by judging looks.

[–]yelirbear 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Liking a book tells nothing about that persons character. Not everyone who appreciates a feminist book is a 15 year old sexist tumblrina.

[–]Werdopok 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, so what if I list Mein Kampf or The International Jew as my favourite book. It tells nothing about me. /s

[–]zktr -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There's a difference between liking a book and listing it as your #1 favorite. Especially when it's basically a thinly-veiled propaganda textbook.

[–]electricalnoise -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I feel what you're saying, but maybe if you post the title of the book in question others might see it your way. I'm sure it was one of those "the only way you're going to make it through this book is if you subscribe to the ideology already" type books.

[+]yelirbear -7 points-6 points-5 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

So you judge a person based on a book they like and then act like an asshole. Very funny.

[–]zktr 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

She listed a book as her top favorite. I googled the book, and based on its description and the fact that it's her favorite book I could conclude beyond a reasonable doubt that she believes that only men "objectify" by judging looks. I replied in an obviously ironic way to make a point, which hopefully but unlikely will cause her to re-examime her views.

[–]yelirbear 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Do you not understand how silly it is to judge someones world views based on a book they like?

[–]zktr -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So if she listed the Bible as her top favorite book, I couldn't infer anything about her world views based on that?

[–]yelirbear 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There are many non-christian religious scholars that read lots of religious texts.
