Some men have no idea how terrible some things are until they face it themselves. Sadly in this case they will never experience it so they will remain naive and ignorant. But that doesn't mean we can't call these men out. A good reply to these men will be 'Stop thinking with your dick all the time'.

Television didn't help.

Even back in the Dexter's Lab days there were televised examples of boys being depicted having crushes (in season 1 for example, Dexter crushes on his babysitter, who states she wishes he was 10 years older... So he ages himself.) on older women and it being completely normalized.

I'm sure there are more examples, but the issue is that those ideas didn't fall out of the sky. They were essentially one way ideas that supported the sexual aspect of attraction in a way where a lot of people in my age group were oblivious to women who haven't gone through puberty, even if we haven't ourselves.

It's obviously not okay, but likely came in a generation when adults were watching cartoons with their children and would have some level of relatability since most kids of that generation were also doomed to share a TV. So if the cartoon didn't appeal to adults in some way, the channel would be changed.

Kids should not be worried about this so early in their lives, but just like children who pick up drinking and smoking so they can fit in with people, I'd assume a sexual experience is something else people feel the need to do just to associate themselves with people who wouldn't do so otherwise...

If I tell you you don't need to smoke, but won't hang out with you unless you did, if you wanted to hang out with me you'd still feel some type of pressure to smoke. Now imagine being some kid the world lasers into his mind that he's never going to get laid, and then "fortune" grants a circumstance in which he can... He's going to think it's a good thing like getting a car before you can even drive it, and take the keys.

Most people are of the opinion that men aren't special. And people who aren't confident in who they are are easily manipulated and taken advantage of. Men getting bashed each and every day creates a situation where they're pressured into taking what ever the world hands them. And the men speaking as if it should be them are essentially speaking in the same tone as the phrase "don't look a gift horse in the mouth." Where they've clearly been brainwashed into accepting the gift of a legal attractive woman, even if they aren't legal to be with. (From the perspective of the male being obviously underage).

It IS obvious, but- well, I'll tell you, but you're not going to like it.

First off, she is not "rightly" called a pedophile for raping a 13-year-old boy; he would be WAY too old for a pedophile, who are sexually attracted to children- i.e., prepubescents- not "minors*. By the time you're 13, you already have sexual feelings and desires of your own, and people remember their own teenage days and desires, and think back wistfully about those desires being fulfilled.

Now, let me be clear for the few of you who haven't already stopped reading and begun writing angry comments condemning me: this is in no way me approving of what she did; statutory rape is rape, and as someone in a clear position of authority over him, this was also a clear abuse of power. By all means, throw the book at her (which it sounds like they finally did), but don't pretend that this is on the same level as raping an actual child.

Laws have different degrees of theft, assault, murder, and even Kevin Bacon, but not SEXUAL assault. Have you never wondered why that is? It's for the same reason this comment is going to get nasty responses, and possibly even deleted by the mods: the knee-jerk response is so strong that people don't even stop to think before they act. The boy would've consented, if he could've. He couldn't, so that makes it unambiguously wrong. But admitting that he would've means admitting that adulthood isn't a magical switch that gets flipped at sunrise on your 18th birthday- and means admitting the same of teenage girls, which NOBODY is willing to do.

To sum up: sex with kids is wrong, yes- but at 13, you're no longer a kid.
