There was a recent article being shared on r/science suggesting that large amounts of sexless men were due to "male dominated" gender ratios. This is an extension of the unfortunately often too repeated argument that there are "too many men". This blog post shows the misandry underlying this idea.

The ideas and implications put forth in the recent research article by Brooks et al., 2022 are unfortunately repeated by a wide variety of people in today's world. That doesn't change that these ideas are profoundly misandrist and rooted in ideas of getting rid of "excess" men or at the very least seeing large populations of single males as a potential threat to be dealt with.

It has remained largely unchallenged and allowed to go unopposed, much as the idea of male disposability/male expendability being natural (https://promalecollective.wordpress.com/2021/12/08/the-sad-anti-male-myth-of-male-disposability-male-expendability/) and this is harmful to men's rights and the wellbeing of people who are male.

It is all falsehoods as typical. Of course there are more women than men in almost any society because women live longer. The only exceptions are certain east-Asian societies that had seen high rates of female infanticides by parents as in those societies sons were considered the source of protection from old age poverty while daughters were considered useless in this respect. But this trend is passing and in all other societies, and soon in these ones, too, there will be always more women than men. Especially as you go up in age groups: the older the age group the more lopsided the female majority is. (Again, because men die younger.)

Men are "sexless" only because women want hypergamy and aim at the top 10 to 20% of men. So the bottom 80 to 90% are "sexless". It has nothing to do with actual numbers, only with percentages of female hypergamy.

This comes across as particularly funny after articles like "not enough financially desirable men, women most affected". And what about their rethorics that men are "commitment-phobes" what would happen if there are less men than women? Are they willing to share and actually do anything to earn commitment?

The populations of men and women are generally fairly closely balanced: any "excessive single men" is a result of women's choice, since women control whether a relationship happens or not. It's women who create a specific checklist of requirements that sees 100% of women select from the top 20% of men, leaving 80% of men disenfranchised and potentially rightfully angry.

Getting rid of those excessive single men is the kind of irrational knee-jerk solution I would expect from someone who doesn't reason: unless polygamy becomes commonplace, 80% of women will also live unfulfilled lives along with 80% of men. Women are choosing to cut off their nose to spite their face.

Instead of determining whether that checklist of requirements is reasonable in creating a reasonable outcome in society, unreasoning choice is allowed to continue as a right, despite the horrendous consequences.

Is that checklist so important that women are prepared to destroy society and their own interests to attain it?

Do women even think about what they are doing, beyond their own selfish desires, which ironically destroys their chance of achieving their fundamental objectives (presumably of a family and children)?

This is a men's rights issue because women's choice is affecting the outcomes men should reasonably expect when the numbers of men and women are approximately the same.

Women should be able to choose whom they have a relationship with, however it is not in the interest of society to allow that choice to be based on unreasonable factors that subsequently destabilises societal balance. Women rating 5/10 should not be holding out for 10/10: that's fantasy instead of reality and whilst fantasy has a role to play in people's lives, it's never meant to come true or interfere with reality.
