Obama care is required to pay for almost every form of female birth control that exists. The only exception being abortion. Abortion is the only form of female birth control that obama care does not cover. Obama care does not cover any form of male birth control at all. Well there's 2 arguments here

For one in general I don't like the idea of HAVING to pay for something I don't morally approve of. Whatever that thing may be.

Second, like others have said here, you're paying for stuff anyway either via taxes or insurance premiums. I don't really mind it going to birth control for whoever will use it. Men, women, whatever

I personally think the guy in the story is just using a religious excuse for political tinder.

Well, it's a public health issue to some extent. And wouldn't you rather as a taxpayer pay for free condoms than welfare and education for an unwanted child?

Paying for neither is practically begging for crime rates to rise. And all of that's just from the "taxes suck" perspective, let alone public health, human rights, poverty etc perspectives. So fuck it, free contraception.

In some countries it's already the case. Here in the UK you can get free condoms at the clinic, but condoms are also on sale for impulse purchase.

The problem is, free contraception is a bit of a dud policy if you don't also have comprehensive sex education, since only a minority will actively go out to get the free condoms. So i'd prefer we had a good sex ed going, then checked the numbers again before deciding if free contraception is a good idea.

Ofcourse that all relies on people ignoring ideology and just going for what's pragmatic and cost effective while still delivering a decent living standard, so like fuck will that happen. I'm betting more left and liberal minded politicians will push for free contraception irrespective of the cost and potential uselessness of the policy (I suspect that if people were properly educated on sex, there wouldn't be a need for free condoms. Sex seems like a luxury people will be pretty eager to pay for regardless of economic status, at least in the west. Coupled with the relatively low price of condoms and such...), libertarian and conservative minded politicians will push against it, regardless of the potential ballooning costs in other areas. Maybe i'm just being cynical.

I think that there are two somewhat unforeseen things that will happen in the future with birth control that will really change things for men:

First, of course will be a male pill or gel that will change the face of things. IMO they will cut the unwanted pregnancy and abortion rate easily in half.

Second and less heard about - women's oral contraceptives will be implicated in the epidemic levels of autism spectrum disorders that are plaguing the Western world. There's actually substantial correlational data supporting that and it's only a matter of time before someone starts seriously looking into it.
