Thoughts on war?

War is bad for all involved, as well as for the families of those involved.

However, given the human condition, war will always be inevitable, in my opinion.

In other words, no hope for humanity.

In short, I hate war.

Why would anyone commit to a society that considers him to be a threat, but at the same time demands he carry its burden.

No man should be signing up to protect a system and legal system that treats him like a third class citizen like it does today.

I don't care who we fight, I am signing up to fight with the enemy if there is a war and they want to force me into it.

War I think is just another way of showing how disposable men are to society.

People argue that the reason women aren't drafted is so they could have kids but during times like WW2 or even recently the Ukraine war, women weren't being forced to have kids or take care of another family's kids yet men were still forced to go die. She could go her whole life not having kids but it would still be used to save her.

Also think its unfair that its often the civilians and working class that has to take the brunt of war when its often the upper class/world leader that want the war. My personal opinion, if it all comes down to power anyway (who has the bigger army. better strategy, better allies) just make it a fight to the death match between the leaders. That would make them be a lot more hesitant to start wars if they knew their hands would have to get dirty for once rather than some nameless man they don't care about.

War is horrible and we have the ability to achieve world peace as soon as we have legislators that that refuse corporate PAC money and refuse to accept money from all the businesses and corporations that make money off of wars

The main reason why world peace has not been achieved is literally because of corrupt politicians that make money from wars and get donations from so-called defense contractors and weapons manufacturers

The role of the international community should be to pressure governments to sign ceasefire agreements

War is nothing more than a racket to make weapons manufacturers fossil fuel companies and other companies and their Shareholders richer

I am in support of war and had relatives that fought in the Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWI, WWII, Afghanistan, and Iraq.

I am 100% pro-veteran. With a equal side of anti war. No sense in wasting young men. No good except for the arms manufacturers. They make big $ for the death of young men and civilians. War is a sad thing we should be past. But no money in life. Only in ending it.

It paid for my college and made me an atheist. I really hope I don't have to send a son to one. Military preys on desperate, broke, and option less men. The few real patriots that had another option are usually the ones that get the really bad PTSD in my existence. The ones that didn't really have a choice, we were broken enough already, not as much of a change.

It's usually the best men that end up getting gunned down. The strongest, the bravest. Especially in a war with a draft it's the weak, the spoiled rich, the cowardly and the crippled that get to start back and procreate. Makes the population easier to control for the elites after the war. Getting rid of the men that were better than their incompetent children but didn't have the money/background to succeed without force.

We've got an entire loneliness epic going on right now because cars got safer and we haven't had a good war in a while to cull the male population. There are more men than women. Numbers aren't working out. Historically more men are born but we end up dying fairly young. Creates a gender imbalance. Women settle when there are less prospects.

All our politicians know if they don't do something they're going to have domestic riots and unrest in the next decade or 2. We're getting a big war very soon.

Not sure what you imagine will be said about it. Some here are veterans. But many (most) would not be. Only someone who’s been through it can really give an opinion that worth paying attention to.

War isn't a choice. It happens whether people deliberately choose it or not.

Take the civil war, for example. One side said "No slavery", another side said "Yes slavery". That tension was there even in the founding fathers, with some founding fathers freeing their slaves at certain points and others not freeing their slaves. That war was destined to happen regardless of whether they deliberately chose war or not. It was not a matter of "if" but "when".
