As a gay man I feel so lucky to not be attracted to women. I honestly feel like the majority of straight women I’ve met are just not decent people (including most of the women in my family). That being said, my best friend is a straight woman and yet she’ll be the the first to tell you modern “feminism” is toxic as hell.

Given the ostensible simplicity and attraction of this line of argument and the zealousness of feminists to build these kinds of narratives, I actually find it striking that tweets like this are relatively rare. More often you hear calls for solidarity, on the specious logic that the discrimination gay men face is analogous to that of women because they reflect the lower status of femininity (a bizarre statement, as nothing could be more important in society than fertility).

Is there a kernel of truth to this? I mean only that: a kernel. My personal experience as a gay man is that I have many more Platonic friendships with women than straight men, especially after 30. In fact, more than I have with straight men (though this is changing, now that homosexuality is so broadly accepted in the West). I also find that, professionally, working women are more able to relax if they know I am gay, and feel less compelled to act artificially aggressive, as many successful women do in the strange assumption that that is what makes men succeed (ignoring the subtlety of male conflict and friendship and incentives).

What are your impressions?

I mean I love my mother, grandmother and female family friends, however I don’t like the new age vapid girls who think they have more social power and get angry when it all goes away.
