Probably because what he did was wrong, purposefully hurtful, unnecessarily cruel, and childish.

What she did was post pictures of her own body which is 100 percent her business.

Communicating as to why she is doing that is the correct response. Not hurling creul insults you can never take back.

Never critique the appearance of anyone is a good general rule of etiquette. There is not much that anyone can do about their physical appearance, they are stuck with it for the duration. This is not a man or woman thing, however, women are acutely sensitive about their appearance and believe that their appearance matters more than their content.
