TEDx is a not TED.

Anybody can hold a TEDx event so long as they hold to a set of very basic principles. http://www.ted.com/participate/organize-a-local-tedx-event

All this means is that somebody who has money wanted to talk about rape culture. The feminist organisations siphon billions from the gov't every year, so money is no issue.

We get these threads kind of regularly. I think it's because people imagine that the TED brand (and TEDx, by extension) has some sort of special authority or credibility since they've gotten some famous people and would-be visionaries to deliver well-received talks.

So, in that light, let's just get it clear: TEDx is garbage. Yes, they really will let anyone speak about almost anything, no matter how stupid or bullshit it is. And because TED lends TEDx their brand, it means that TED is garbage. (And it's their own damn fault for whoring out their name, so don't feel sorry for them.)

Stop valuing TED. Problem solved.

If the definition on the screen is anything to go by, rape culture doesn't exist, except perhaps in some sub-cultures.
