Both men and women became less satisfied when they transitioned to dual‐earner households where women out‐earned their partners. Becoming a female‐breadwinner household due to male unemployment or illness decreased relationship satisfaction for women. Respondents were most satisfied when they were in male‐breadwinner, female‐homemaker households. For women, but not men, gender role attitudes influenced some of these associations.

Women on average were least satisfied with the relationship when she became the primary breadwinner due to her partner being unable to work due to illness or disability. The reverse is not the case; the woman being unable to work does not, on average, affect the man’s relationship satisfaction.

This suggests that women were less tolerant of a partner's loss of contribution to household finances.

For men it's expected that we put in extra work for a relationship then women.

I guarantee if men could be comfortable that their partner wouldn't leave them in that situation, they would be just as "satisfied" as women are when they stay home and take care of the house or kids.

I actually saw a guy earlier post on Reddit that he wanted to be a house husband. But it's an uphill battle if you're a guy and this is what you want. Nowadays even if you're a woman it's hard to get this. In part because many men are now refusing to do that. But the poor economy doesn't help, either.

It's women who expect men to be the breadwinners and are less attracted to men if they aren't. That goes as far as open disrespect and hate.

It's NOT men wanting to be the breadwinners.

The feminist's view is again 180° degree twisted. They say men feel 'emasculated' if the wife earns more. NO, men just don't like to be disrespected by their wifes.

So much of the stereotyping of men is simple projection by immature women. I suspect that few people challenge that thinking so they don't grow up.

TBH I did some stereotyping, too. 😉

It's not that black and white. We need this contra point to come to a more balanced view.

You mean things like the woman tells the man "you are not a real man" if he can't provide enough or more than she?

And that's why society will break further as the femnasties push for quotas and equal pay for similar work etc. They are making society more miserable.

Also sex decreases in non-traditional family structure.

And this behavior is universal.

Is this how 'women's empowerment' plays out?
