I've got no issue with this if it's based on the actual work/entries submitted and not because they're women. The best work should win the prize, gender not relevant.

I took part in an “Invention Convention” in sixth grade and made it to states. There were awards given out to the very young children with good designs (they were roughly 6 years old, let them be happy), and then there were awards for girls. No boys awards, just girls awards, which was BS.
