I would direct both you and him over to the sidebar post of overcoming addiction. 202 in the 200's series. If he's not receptive to the red pill, you could print it out on a separate doc. Very brief summary: you need a new heart to beat addiction; only Jesus can provide that.

As for calling someone out, it sounds like he's done the calling out for you. You and he both know he struggles with porn. There's no need to tell him you're worried that his use of porn is affecting him and his relationship with God, he already knows.

Had a friend ask me to be an accountability partner in his fight against pornography.

Can't believe no one has really said it yet (and there are some good ideas), but you might want to ask him how he wants you to help him.

Go over the Scriptures with him? Does he want you to check in with him frequently? At times of day when he is most vulnerable to sin? Text? Video chat? Do things together and talk about it?

I have a swearing problem. It used to be pretty bad but I've gotten better control of it. The key was I had to want to get rid of it. Not just consciously saying that it was bad, I had to make some commitment to it and force myself into controlling it.

So first off, tell your boy to get a router with a porn filter on it. If he's really on board he will make it happen.

Ad for Biblically calling him out, 1 Corinthians 6:18 says:

Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.

Go to youtube, there's this dude called Universal Man who has step by step process to kick porn out of your life. Specifically look for the sexual self-mastery series. Remember its important to pray and ask God for a clean heart, but its also important to have a game plan to fight these battles. Understand that for the 1st week, there's a different mentality to take than your 6th month or 12th year clear. Ask him why does he look at porn. Let him know that when using porn you are essentially tricking your brain that you're an alpha stud and you are a high status male getting all the virtual females. If he really wants to move off, he's going to need to find new hobbies (work on his mission), I find working out helps a lot when staving off the urge. What are his triggers? If he's triggered by lying down in his bed on free time for example, he has to recognize the triggers and do something else for enough time to allow the brain re-wiring process to happen. Also, he's gotta be intentional. Sometimes, porn addicts go on instagram to porn fish, start getting horny by looking at a girl from his favorite show, then hes looking at bikinis, then nudes, then oh he's back at the porn site. He may struggle and fall with a relapse every now and then, but just as long as he gets back up and gets back on it, it'll be ok. He may have a tendency to beat himself up, but it's important to let him to know to love himself and be kind to himself, because essentially he will get thru this. ALSO, it takes alot of willpower to get off an addiction, if he's low on willpower by nightime, his habit might be to look at porn then. He's gonna have to find a relaxing activity where he can zone out like walking around his neighborhood at night, talking to a friend, or playing a game. ITS important to replace a hobby (porn) with at least 2-4 hobbies otherwise it'll be easy to slip back into it.
