Yes, God is a jealous God.

Isaiah 48:9-11: For my name’s sake I defer my anger, for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you, that I may not cut you off. Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tried you in the furnace of affliction. For my own sake, for my own sake, I do it, for how should my name be profaned? My glory I will not give to another.

God chose his people for his glory:

He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love 5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace. (Ephesians 1:4-6, cf. vv. 12, 14)

God created us for his glory:

Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the end of the earth, every one who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory. (Isaiah 43:6-7)

God called Israel for his glory:

You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will be glorified (Isaiah 49:3).

I made the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah cling to me, declares the Lord, that they might be for me a people, a name, a praise, and a glory. (Jeremiah 13:11)

God rescued Israel from Egypt for his glory:

God raised Pharaoh up to show his power and glorify his name:

God defeated Pharaoh at the Red Sea to show his glory:

God spared Israel in the wilderness for the glory of his name:

God gave Israel victory in Canaan for the glory of his name:

God did not cast away his people for the glory of his name:

God saved Jerusalem from attack for the glory of his name:

God restored Israel from exile for the glory of his name:

Jesus sought the glory of his Father in all he did:

Jesus told us to do good works so that God gets glory:

Jesus warned that not seeking God’s glory makes faith impossible:

Jesus said that he answers prayer that God would be glorified:

Jesus endured his final hours of suffering for God’s glory:

God gave his Son to vindicate the glory of his righteousness:

God put [Christ] forward as a propitiation by his blood . . . to show God’s righteousness . . . It was to show his righteousness at the present time. (Romans 3:25-26)

God forgives our sins for his own sake:

I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins. (Isaiah 43:25)

For your own name’s sake, O Lord, pardon my guilt, for it is great. (Psalm 25:11)

Jesus receives us into his fellowship for the glory of God:

Welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. (Romans 15:7)

The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Son of God:

He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. (John 16:14)

God instructs us to do everything for his glory:

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God (l Corinthians 10:31; cf. 6:20).

God tells us to serve in a way that will glorify him:

Whoever serves, [let him do it] as one who serves by the strength which God supplies – in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. (l Peter 4:11)

Jesus will fill us with fruits of righteousness for God’s glory:

All are under judgment for dishonoring God’s glory:

They became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images. (Romans 1:22, 23)

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

Herod is struck dead because he did not give glory to God:

Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him down, because he did not give God the glory. (Acts 12:23)

Jesus is coming again for the glory of God:

They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might, when he comes on that day to be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at among all who have believed. (2 Thessalonians 1:9-10)

Jesus’ ultimate aim for us is that we see and enjoy his glory:

Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. (John 17:24)

Even in wrath God’s aim is to make known the wealth of his glory:

Desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, [God] has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he prepared beforehand for glory. (Romans 9:22-23)

God’s plan is to fill the earth with the knowledge of his glory:

For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. (Habakkuk 2:14)

Everything that happens will be to God’s glory:

From him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen. (Romans 11:36)

In the New Jerusalem the glory of God replaces the sun:

And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives its light, and its lamp is the Lamb (Revelation 21:23).

Now jealousy when referring to God means having a zeal for Himself and His glory. Jealous is a form of zealous, which means to have a zeal for. And God has every right to be zealous for Himself and His glory – there is no other being in all existence who can claim the right to the highest glory and honor. Only God. So it is right for God to be most concerned about Himself.

Jealousy when referring to man means

“fiercely protective or vigilant of one's rights or possessions.”

It can also mean

“feeling or showing envy of someone or their achievements and advantages.”

When men mate guard, they mean it in the fiercely protective sense. But women perceive it as feeling or showing envy. So it’s all perception, and to a woman perceiving it as envy, it’s a DLV.

Also, there’s the fact that as men, we should be following after God wholeheartedly on mission for Him. So when we give God the glory and honor rightly due Him, and concern ourselves with being vigilant for Him instead of our own concerns, not only will we not be jealous and attempt to mate guard, but we will have true abundance that comes from the Spirit within.

mate guarding principals

You can accept or not. The choice is yours. You have that freewill.

Now if the person is a believer there isn't really any 'guarding' that takes place. They are sealed with the Spirit.

Come and take stuff from my house and see me guard it. The believer is purchased. If He wasn't jealous then I would doubt the sincerity.

John 10:17–18 (NASB95): “For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take it again. 18 “No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father.”

We can be manipulated because we can't always see the heart. That isn't the case with God. Therefore He won't get tricked or punked. He see's you for who you are.

BP are generally nice guys who want to do right. Investing in a relationships. The problem is their blindness to the feminine imperative.

RP are aware of the risks. They have a copy of the 'rule manual' so they can play the game. Problem is the pump and dump side. They don't care about investing. It's turn and burn. Not caring allows for no guarding, because the commodity is easily replaced. Abundance is plentiful on a blank slate level. After investment that slate then has uniqueness to it (scarcity).

Generally speaking, though, God's jealousy is for our hearts. BUT He has no problem allowing Israel, Judah, and even us as Christians to choose sin and experience the consequences of sin in our lives. In this respect, it's akin to God telling us that we should be putting him first... but if we want to wander off with X, Y, and Z like His brides Israel and Judah walked out on Him with pagan idols He will allow it. He hates it though.

Will God "mate guard"? Sure, IF we (1) humble ourselves, (2) pray, (3) seek His face, and (4) turn from our wicked ways.

2 Chronicles 7:14 and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

I'm actually not a particularly jealous person by nature, at least in regards to things like my wife (her talking to people, guys staring at her, etc)....part of this is the confidence I have in myself and our relationship, and the other part is that jealousy always struck me as a bit of a wasted emotion....much like worry. I mean, what is being jealous going to actually accomplish? If a guy is looking at my wife at the pool or in a store, does it really do me any good to throw a tantrum or make a scene? Or what if my wife is talking in a friendly way to another man? Should I take it personally, have my feelings hurt and call her on it? Personally -- and this is just me -- I am just naturally confident and I know that it's me she's going home with and that I'm the one she loves.

But on the other hand, my wife has noticed this characteristic of mine (or lack of it) in the past and has asked me why I seem so seemingly uncaring if she's around other guys and/or talking friendly with them.... it seems that she actually WANTS me to be jealous. She wants me to be possessive over something worth possessing -- her. And the fact that I haven't shown that has evidently hurt her feelings a bit.

So I guess the point is that jealousy is the result of an offense, or should be...it's the offense of showing adoration to someone or something not worthy, while ignoring the one who's actually worthy of adoration. Thus, Jealousy is just a natural outflow or consequence of injustice. For God to not be jealous, would be for Him not to be caring about injustice. So I think the RP people are ultimately wrong with their lackadaisical attitude towards their wives. The Bible says for men to love their wives as Christ loves the Church. This tells me that our wives are people to be righteously-jealous over.

Jealousy is an emotion. Mate-guarding is an action. A person can mate-guard without actually being jealous, or be jealous without actually mate-guarding.

God's jealousy is defined by a high standard against our prioritization of anyone else over him. But he does not mate-guard because his solution to his jealousy is simply to let us walk away (Romans 1:18 et seq.). He's there to take us back, but (soteriology aside) he will not entertain a relationship with us while we prioritize anyone else over him.

This is the ultimate example of RP's traditional advice: If she's being a harpy, defiant, or giving frequent denials, go do something else; you have better things to do with your time. Likewise, although God is jealous for us, he has better things to do than try to prove himself yet again as being better than our idols. That's why when the Pharisees asked for a sign Jesus basically said, "Screw you. You've had enough signs. You get no more. Either follow me or don't."

There's also a difference between God's affection for those who aren't yet his and those who are his, but are wandering away.

Also note the story of Hosea. As I seem to recall, he was very jealous over his wife - and rightfully so. He was so jealous that when she went back to her pimp and lovers, he paid a high price to buy her back to free her from her past life of prostitution that she had returned to. But even in the midst of this, we don't see him trying to ward off the other guys. He simply opens the way for her return - no mate guarding.
