I recently got a message from a girl saying my boyfriend was seeing someone else at the same time we started going out. He is very romantic, and was showering her with cheesy presents such as a gold engraved bracelet with the date of their planned future trip or other promises. Truth be told, I have also been showered by many of these cute, thoughtful presents but I never paid much attention to them, I never felt the need to be pampered. Turns out, he only left the girl a week after me and him became official and was seeing her at the same time as he was seeing me. I had no idea about any of this for 5 months. I feel extremely strange about this situation, I have seen a different side of him that is incredibly manipulative and only concerned with his wants. I don't feel like I can fully trust him and this sort of behaviour is likely to repeat in the future, right? While confronted, he tried to lie about it some more after which he apologised profusely and told me he had an engagement ring for me. I do love the guy and we have both quit our jobs to start a company together, but this situation has made me feel incredibly empty. I never wanted to be special, he tried to make me feel this way yet if it is what every girl gets, what is the point?
