I was just reading this article from The Proper Lady about turning shyness into an asset. This really made me think, since I was very "bashful" since childhood and have not grown out of it entirely. I am friendly and do not have trouble interacting pleasantly with people, but around men I find attractive, I go all red and quiet.

The article mentions blushing and acting shy during interaction, and I can certainly see how that would be attractive. But how do you get to that point when you are too shy to interact in the first place?

If an attractive man doesn't come up and begin speaking to me, I find it very hard to approach them. They seem busy and important, and I'm afraid of bothering them. I also tend to think they just aren't attracted to me, or else they would have approached me.. but maybe that is flawed thinking, based on my own sense of entitlement to attention.

What do you think about approaching men who have not approached you? What are some subtle ways to grab his attention or start a conversation? Can shyness be used effectively, or do I need to overcome it to an extent?
