99% of 20 year old guys would of course love to experiment with a 9 years older attractive woman, and therefore make eye contact and flirt, but it would only be a “fun experiment”, nothing serious. If that’s what you want to go for then fine, but if you are looking for a real relationship, a guy this much younger will probably not be the one for that. They are not as mature and they have not experimented enough, most of them are not looking to settle down and if they are showing older women interest it’s because they like an independent woman with experience that can mother them and teach them. No one knows exactly who they are compatible to. people change all the time. We are always evolving. If you’re attracted try dating and getting to know the guy you might be surprised. You probably don’t even know him.

Honestly sometimes I think the person we least expect is the best person for us. Especially when we shop around and tell ourselves exactly what we are looking for, it can feel a bit repetitive. Love and connection and intimacy I’ve found is much stronger when the connection is spontaneous, not sought after. Imagine you were looking to find a friend. You only ever wanted to do what you were used to and find a friend with your exact same interests and personality. It would get boring pretty quick. But then you find a friend who does all these interesting things you’ve never tried before. You would have a blast letting them show you what’s to love about something new to you. You’d see their unique perspective and gather a new appreciation for activities you once didn’t even take a second glance at. Then would also come the opportunity for you to do the same for them with your own interests. A partner especially should challenge you in a fun way that offsets your own personality. Get you to explore new things, new ways of thinking. I would at least give it a shot and see how it goes. You never know, it could be something you didn’t even know you wanted!

It’s generally a good idea to date older men, since they’re more likely to have their shit together and be willing to commit. HOWEVER, that doesn’t mean that this guy doesn’t. He might be part of the minority of guys who wants to settle down in his twenties. Worth a date at least. And if it doesn’t work out, oh well. Just don’t sleep with him.

Full text: I’m a 29F who just moved to a different country by myself. I’m single and know exactly the kind of men I’d be compatible with. However I seem to be attracted to this 20 year old guy who works at the local cafe. He’s sweet, but I can tell we’re very different and we simply wouldn’t make sense together. Stop going to the cafe lol. Really, that's what I would do. I often have this problem being attracted to "sweet" guys that I'm really not compatible with and the best solution I've come up with is to just walk away and not look back.

Agree on the older men, and I think that's a wise choice which is why I'm making it. Younger guys are so "us" and so "cute" or "sweet" but in my opinion if we really want what we want, it's the older guys we go for.

Edit - Oops sorry, I didn't realize you weren't his age. That adds even more problems. No, you've got to find a new cafe for real lol.
