I’m wondering if this community has opinions or resources on managing through break ups as a red pill woman dumpee.

My specific situation some of you may remember of my BF moving from the US to UAE (unfortunately I accidentally deleted the post and wasn’t able to recover it). In my case, I ended up being the dumpee due to the location issue and I admit I would like to have him back if things don’t work out for him and hold out hope when I probably shouldn’t. He’s continuing to text daily despite having moved and before moving, indicating he didn’t want a long-distance relationship or planning for me to go with him. And the texts are very much are the same as when we were in a relationship (i.e. how is your day, what are you doing?) and over the top complementary (i.e. I miss you so much, I hope you miss me, you are so gorgeous…)

Some of my questions are:

  • How do you handle an ex (who you want back) who breadcrumbs or says they are not looking for a commitment yet continues to engage with you like you are in a relationship? Is it best to cut them off and tell them why? or if I want to keep the door open, keep them on the back burner and continue communicating? If the answer is cut him off, how can I do that while keeping the door open?

  • Why would a man continue to engage in this behavior? There’s no Sexting going on, he’s just staying connected, so I’m not quite sure what he’s getting out of this. Comfort? The short answer is he misses me which I know is true, but what does he expect me to do here? What is he trying to get?

I’m truly struggling with how to manage this given I do want to keep the door open and I honestly don’t understand why he’s still communicating with me and with the intensity he is when it was his decision to end things. I have not been responding to him right away and giving it about 24 hours each time. But honestly the stress is also draining my energy. This all started at the end of December, and he left 2 weeks ago, so it’s been a long emotional road.

Thank you in advance for setting me straight :)
