Mine is extremely direct, we sort stuff out bluntly and then make dumb jokes about everything once we know the outcome we're going for. Unless he thinks we're at odds on an issue, then he goes full Kaiser Soze and does what he wants in a way that's supposed to make me think it couldn't have happened any other way. He's funny about it at least.

As it relates to getting married, his initial proposal was very business like, he had a plan and I was on board or not within 2 weeks. There was a more traditional one after but initially it was a "know what you're getting into" thing.

He will communicate with you based on how you reward and punish him for his communication. You may not always realize it, but you're usually rewarding or punishing communication.

Think of that person at work who always over analyzes everything that anyone says. Eventually, people will think twice or thrice before talking to that person. Why? Because they're being punished for communication. This may not be intentional, it may be natural for that person to over analyze things, but that doesn't matter. Reality is that this person punishes anyone who dares to ask or tell them something.

Or the person who's always pleasant to talk to. They don't interrupt, they listen intently and make you feel at ease talking to them. They're rewarding communication, that's why people like to talk to them.

In a LTR, you'll reward and punish communication. Living together 24/7 means that you'll end up doing things that'll annoy one another. The key is to minimize the negative and increase the positive.

Communication between you and your spouse is something you'll both be learning and working on 24/7 like it or not. The only control you have is what comes out of your own mouth and how. Always sound advice, you don't have to attend any argument you're invited to.

Does/did he tell you his expectations of you as a wife?

If you want to know something ask. A lot of women make the mistake of hinting/suggesting or using other covert means of communication to try to get what they want, and then throw fits when their doomed strategy didn't work in the first place. There is no harm from asking straightforward questions as long as you're doing it politely and not being disrespectful to you husband.

Also if you haven't read at least a few of the recommended books at this point, you absolutely should.
