Share this with your wife if you want her to read it, and submit your post TRP if you really want to share. This has nothing to do with RPW, which is why I didn't approve it when you submitted it the first time (I believe under a different account) when the automoderator removed it from the sub.

Tell your wife to stop by and say hello on the 10,000 subscriber post.

Ok. Will do. Submitted both times under same username though. She may not want to comment, she's not a redditor. Will let her know. edit: Thought she might become interested enough in the discussion to participate. She was expecting to find some interesting observations. She is fully aware of the post and agreed this approach.

Sorry, I'm not sure you understand that my wife preferred I make this post. She has approved all content. Understand if there is still some other problem, but she didn't want to write her own. Wanted to use mine, will in any case invite her to comment

[–]PhantomDream09 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

  1. Your SO/Wife's 'approval' should never be a consideration when posting.

  2. This post just isn't relevant to the RPW sub. It's more appropriate for TRP etc.

We'd love for your wife to stop by and say hello if she ever makes an account. :0)

[–]TheGreasyPole[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

  1. It was not when I originally posted MY OP over at MRP. You can view this in my history. I need no approval from my wife to discuss what I wished to discuss. She wishes to hear advice, but is reluctant to write herself, but willing to allow me to cross post this to RPW in order that she may interact. I'm hoping that some good comments will prompt her to surrender her reddit-virginity or whatever the term is.

  2. I disagree. My wife would derive no benefit from the comments at TRP. I would, but I chose to post mine at MRP where I feel discussion would be more directly relevant to me. I believe this is the only female orientated sub where my wife would feel inclined to interact and discuss our situation. As I said, she's been an active lurker here. Is sidebar complete (with one or two exceptions) and has been reading posts mists nights. She ain't going to ask me to post this over at TRP. She don't need guys to talk to. She got me. She browses MRP. This was her chance to ease into talking with the girls.

I don't beleive I've broken any rules. If you feel there are some actions that are required from either mer or the wife, please let us know what they are.

I have created her an account. That's not the problem. The problems enticing her to use the damn thing rather than just lurking.

[–]TempestTcup2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

A lot of people lurk for a while until they get comfortable with the concept of RP. I think it's fine to not push her hard to comment and become active before she is ready. That being said, I welcome her to RPW and I hope she likes what she sees :)

[–]TheGreasyPole[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

Thank you. She is enjoying your sub enough that she may post in time. The fact she's never been active on any Internet forum (except FB) means she's nervous. There is also the issue that she finds it hard to relate to RPW as she doesn't see her/our story there I was hoping to draw out some lurkers/posters with same XP as she'd feel a real reason to talk to them, she was looking forward to it. Seemed an easy intro. Will show this exchange and explain RPW needs her to fly under her own steam or not at all. Sorry for inconvenience caused, wife wanted it this way with me posting, just didn't see anything wrong/rule breaking about it. Will advise wife of situation.

[–]TempestTcup0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I didn't even see the post, but looking back it came in at around 3am my time and was buried under a bunch of other stuff. We don't usually post FRs or questions from men because men need men's advice. We do post silly things like "What would be a good present for my wife" occasionally.

But, yes she needs to fly under her own steam :) We usually suggest reading the sidebar as well as the current posts to see how things work around here.

[–]TheGreasyPole[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Yup, she's been doing all that. More or less sidebar complete, about 30 posts read (she's knocking through 2-3 a night). She wanted to chat to the girls... But was too scared of dipping her toe in (especially as she's been reading the anger posts on male sites) ... We thought this way was an acceptable compromise. It's still my toe going in, but she gets to read the replies and to jump in if it really interests her. She does like the RPW stuff, she's just really conscious that she isn't in your mainstream as I am not really in MRP mainstream.

She was just hoping my post would knock some lurkers loose who jumped in and said "OMG, this is what happenned to me !!!" followed by a bit of "Be wary ! This can happen, or you can feel like this, or I tripped over this so be careful"

We've searched and searched and searched for days on all sorts of sites looking for a similar story. I even asked you when you popped over to MRP. I can;t believe we're unique. It must have happenned dozens if not hundereds of times.

The idea was we'd put a resource out there that may assist other husbands in the same situation (on MRP with my OP) and wives in the same situation (on RPW with my adjusted OP) .... AND ... Help us out along the way.

She's bought into RP, accepts it as completely true, we're having great conversations and chats about it. It's really fun for both of us. Problem is.... All the "advice" and "help" she's getting are from male sources, mainly me, and I wanted to give her a chance to open another channel and get independent advice/discussion going from a female perspective.

One of the other mods suggested I post this on TRP. Thats not the point. I got my male advice from MRP. I don't want any advice for me. She needs the advice, and she selected RPW as the place where she trusted she could get it.... We should both be aware that the advice she needs she will not get from TRP. She'll only get a male perspective there, or the female perspective will be buried under 1,000 "next her" replies and may well be heavily downvoted to boot.

I understand your reservations. I will tell her she's got to "woman up" a bit. I just fear, very strongly, that she will baulk at the hurdle of writing it up herself.... even as a comment.... Where she was perfectly happy to get my version out there (with a few suggested edits from her, please read the OP to see them) and jump into comments from there if she felt it was productive.

I believe both the community and her will lose if she don't post. I am trying to be a good man and husband here and make a difficult thing easy for her. I was not aware doing so was treading on toes. It's difficult for me walking the tightrope of trying to help her and trying not to tread on your sites toes.

She's just bubbling with good insights and questions... she's a smart cookie that has already grasped some things better than me and challenged my view. A lot of my replies are "Hun, I just don't know. I haven't got my head around the female side yet. Just the male. I can try and work it out with you.... But I am liable to keep screwing things up... My ingorant attempt at answering here is X....But, why don't we talk to the experts in the female side of RP ? They'll give you a much better answer"

I am conscious that I am a good resource for her in some respects but not others, I was trying to cover us where I am weak....Solely in her interests as she's the one suffering where my mental model of RP is weak (largely anything female orientated)..... Also because maybe she DOES need to hear things I will not say (like "Leave the asshole"). I was really hoping homini would drop by. I'm pretty sure I can rely on her to give a perspective that I would never in a million years think to give.

[–]TempestTcup0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Have her come chat on the IRC (link on the sidebar) - maybe a real-time chat situation would be easier than reddit. We generally have good, lively discussions that range from silly to serious, and we discuss pretty much everything under the sun. And then we link to silly photos etc.

On the IRC we will ask who she is, because we have had problems with trolls, but tell her to say she's your wife and everything should be fine.

[–]TheGreasyPole[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ok, thanks so much for your time on this. You must be busy. I really appreciate the effort to assist my wife.

I have created two users for her so far.... MrsTGP and TheGreasyHole (Come on, that IS funny ! Just got to persuade her to use it. BPP says she gets automatic flair at MRP if she uses it !).... If anyone pops up under those two it's her.

If she chooses another u/name will make sure she informs you she is MrsTGP and will unsubscribe the other accounts from RPW.

[–]PhantomDream09 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You haven't broken any rules, your FR just isn't relevant to this sub and the ladies here.

[–]TheGreasyPole[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I understand your position. I cannot agree as in my experience at least one of your lurkers has this story. There may be others. There is no post currently we can find that addresses this scenario despite many days of searching. Was hoping to create a resource for my wife an other women in same situation so, when it happens again, wife involved finds at least one OP to relate directly to. Felt there was help for small set of community here as well as for my wife. No hard feelings. Will inform wife RPW says "do it yourself, or not at all"

[–]meri-dian2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I read your post before it was deleted. I had no reply because there was never a clear intention in the post.

[–]TheGreasyPole[S] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I was hoping to find other RPW or RP-aware women who had similar experiences so info could be swapped. Was also hoping comments/debate would be enticing enough to wife that she'd stop lurking and break her comment cherry. Also felt a resource/FR may help other wives who find themselves in Same rare situation. No threads ANYWHERE in RP community we can find are even close. Not here, MRP, TRP, askTRP. Wanted next person in wife's position to at least find one discussion, see some help, not feel so alone. Will inform wife RPW not happy for me to do this. It seems she must do it. Likelihood of this low, despite her being excited to read comments on my x-posted story. Just too reluctant to "get into" posting/commenting. Natural lurker.

Hi there! Sounds like you folks are taking quite the journey together. I read 80% of what you wrote (started skimming towards the end, short on time). I'm relatively young and unmarried myself, but I thought I'd leave my two cents:

In my opinion, a lot of the ladies on here are like your wife, in the sense that we are in that logical section of the bell curve. It takes a lot for a woman to be able to read all the RP canon and swallow the pill anyway. The anger in the writings makes it very difficult; at least, it did for me. It takes a strong logical mind to read it from a distance, consider the source, try to understand the male perspective, and then turn around and try to figure out what the hell to do with yourself as a woman. Finding this sub was a sigh of relief for me. I think she'd enjoy lurking here and reading, even without posting or making an account. I love reading things in here. :) I also lurk in theredpill once in a while; there are some interesting insights there, too, if you can stand the anger.

Props to you for exposing her to the ideas. I've thought about introducing my SO, but I've decided there would really be no benefit to it, and it might just hurt our relationship. I came here looking for a safehaven and guidance in a world that told me what all the cool kids were doing. He never had a need for a male safehaven - a mancave like theredpill. He comes from a very cultural/religious background where the family unit is of utmost importance. He's perfect the way he is - very much the "king" of the relationship, and he treats me like his queen. :)

It seems like you two have been going over the things that she finds negative in the literature ("Did you ever think I used sex as a weapon against you ?"). Maybe you could sit together and find the things that you've both been doing right all along? For example, her trusting your leadership (your first point).

This is more towards your wife - I don't know anything about you other than what was posted here, but part of what made me like RP ideas more and more was just employing some of them in my life. One of the highlights was when my SO asked me on our second date, "What would you do if I asked you to get me a sandwich?" I told him with a big grin, "I'll bring you a beer with it, and a pickle on the side." He laughed for about 10 minutes and then hugged me and kissed me. The joy/relief from him was such a great reward. :) I did it for him a few weeks later. Embrace it, try it out, and see what joy it brings you.
