I come from family where taking things is bad. Taking things set out for whoever wants it is arrogantly presumptuous and so selfish. Fruit bowls are decorative, but friendly, but dont touch them. Snacks will spoil your dinner.

I only found one article a decade ago that it was a fashion in pre-westernized asia, korea i believe. Not where im from, but there are many similar cultures. The post-war greeting was "have you eaten today" rather than hello. It is rude NOT to offer snacks to those you invite inside, but you hope noone takes them because food was very scarce. As a guest, you are socially required to refuse because you respect their generosity but will not take advantage of them. It was the original cause of documented anorexia before western "looks based" disorders began and people got EDs for fun.

It would be incredibly uncultured and borderline abusive to rely on you as a food source. Breaking that level of respect for you is nearly impossible.

Try sharing snacks and offering to split them up to enjoy rather than plopping them in front of him and expecting that he feels entitled to what you bought, you prepared, and is yours.

Edit: if it's meal time you need to discuss expecting to eat with you prior, and what time to actualy expect food to be done, even if you figureit out later. Eating before you go over to someone's house to eat is a real thing to ensure you eat enough they think they fed you, but not enough that you really actually took anything from them or were too greedy.

I know that it isn't your question but it's your second post in under a week where you are concerned with his reactions to you. Usually RPW focuses on lasting relationships and that's why it's worth making an effort to conform to his wishes.

Just want to say FYI a boomer isn't 45 years old according to your other post. I don't understand people's fascination with labeling every middle aged person a boomer. That group is at the youngest in their 60s by now.

For a man "snack" aren't something that could fill him. Moreover if he's careful about what he it, he could want a real him instead of snack... and he want something like that come from you, not because he asked and you feel compeled to do it.

Anyway you should probably try to have a meal ready at "meal time" for him. Worse case he eat it later when he's hungry, best case? You becom so much more attractive to him.
