Help with Role Models.....

You may be interested in Candace Cameron Bure, the chick who played the oldest daughter from the television show Full House and the new reboot Fuller House. If you Google "candace cameron bure submissive," then you will find pages and pages of her defending the exact same ideals you are talking about here as far as being submissive in her marriage and all of the crap she catches from that.

Here's one particular quote from her book:

”I am not a passive person, but I chose to fall into a more submissive role in our relationship because I wanted to do everything in my power to make my marriage and family work…It is very difficult to have two heads of authority. It doesn’t work in military, it doesn’t work — I mean, you have one president, you know what I’m saying?”

Everyone has skeletons in the their closet. No matter how perfectly they curate their image for the outside world. Of course, some more than others. Still - no one is immune.

What I've learned from following a variety of people in these past few years, is that it's entirely possible (and advantageous) to admire aspects of someone and truthfully acknowledge their shortcomings as well. There are even people in the public light who I disagree with 100%, yet still respect, say, their values or intentions.

I know this is a roundabout way of answering the question. I stand by it, though. Have different role models, each for different reasons. Dig for the good and bad about them. Take what you learn from them to improve your own life and worldview.

Edit: Although.. I do like Christina Hoff Sommers. She's had her moments, but I admire her feminine disposition and non-aggressive, yet assertive way of presenting her ideas during one-on-one discussion.

Pioneer Woman!

Not only is she an awesome cook, but she seems to have a great family life. And she definitely acknowledges inherent differences between men and women (she has a whole section on her website for "Cowboy Food" that's focused on meat and potato-type dishes).

She's also basically Superwoman - managing her home life (she homeschools 4 kids on a working cattle ranch), blog, television show, brand of products, building renovation, cafe, cookbooks, childrens books, etc. I love how she is a strong, smart, capable woman but is still totally smitten with her husband and trusts in his leadership (it probably helps that he is one of the largest landowners in the country). She is always gushing over how strong and masculine he is! She also just seems like a fun, friendly lady who doesn't take herself too seriously.
