In all honesty, I prefer when a man initiates conversation or approach. However, a lot of men are timid due to uncertainty of the outcome, or the countless times they have been turned down. Simple things like, create eye contact, smile move closer. You’ll know his vibe if he is interested back, you won’t even need words at that point.

For me, over the years, learned had to put great strides into being nice.

I'm not particularly all that more attractive than your average woman - not in my eyes - but I LOVE to dress up and take such amazing care of myself. End result is that even when just going to the supermarket, I looked a little more high maintenance than I intend. So men get nervous, SO nervous around me.

Simple solution I found, was just be nice. Slow down, ask questions, even as little as an obvious direction to a place. Laugh at their jokes, smile, listen to them.

And of you REALLY like them, body contact, slight, casual touch on the shoulder, the arm. He'll melt for sure.

Best way to flirt with a guy, even if he's timid at first is smile at him. Smile, fein a blush, smile again. A wave, a nod of your head, or even the "raising of your glass" will help.

Even the timid will more than likely come over.

Its hard for most men to approach women. I once taught "confidence" classes for men that don't feel comfortable randomly going up to a woman and striking up a conversation. Fear of rejection is high on the list, but so is the idea of having to sulk back to where you came from if you get shot down. Eapecially knowing, or at least thinking, that others just watched you crash and burn. It's not that men don't want to approach women they see. It's the awkwardness of not knowing. Not knowing how to bow out gracefully. Not knowing what to say as an opener. "Hi my name is.." though half the battle, trying to be witty, intelligent, suave, and a real conversationalist isn't something most can do.

In a bar, flirting is easier. Use the bartender or wait staff. Send the person a drink. If they don't walk over and thank you personally and choose to just have the bar staff relay the message then all you're out is $5-20 depending on what you're sending. Plus, if they use the bar staff instead of thanking you personally, then they're probably an ass anyways and you saved yourself weeks or years of being with an idiot. Lol

It's gonna sound corny and lame but just be you. If you are unapologetically you the right people will find you and approach you. I think the man should make the first move but you can if you want to. Eye contact is super important, it lets people know that you're interested and paying attention. Keep it lighthearted and just have fun with it :)

I'm terrible at flirting but these are the few tips I got:

Make eye contact and hold it for a while.
Smile when you make eye contact.
If they end up talking to you, give them a compliment about their appearance/demeanor.

Someone once told me that even in the past, men are only used to approaching after the woman gives them a sign, for instance, the proverbial dropping her handkerchief. A surefire way to get a man's attention is to ask him for help/advice/suggestions and if he's very curt about it, then he's not interested in you or doesn't think of you in a flirtatious manner.

Did he make eye contact back? It’s possible he isn’t single/wasn’t interested. I usually just smile and let men approach me and I’ve found that the more masculine men prefer that too

Its simple if u are giving him signals and he looks interested but refuses to approach u maybe he is not comfortable to approach Sometimes if u are in a group men are afraid to approach So single yourself out from the herd and wait for him If u see no signs of improvement just approach him .. Buy him a drink .. Ask him how was his day be smooth and it doesn't feel awkward

I was really aggressive when I was younger. I almost always made the first move. If I saw a cute guy at a bar I would go up to him and ask him his name, etc. I would not do this now (well I'm married now but as Ive gotten older I mean)

If you want to get over the fear though, I would just try doing it multiple times to get comfortable. I was rejected constantly but I never cared because the benefits outweighed the negatives.

If you want a good starting point I sometimes would go up to a guy and tell him he looked really familiar and if we might know each other from somewhere? Thats usually a good conversation starter because it will get them to open up and they will usually respond with "oh do you work at X company?" "maybe I saw you at X event?" etc and you can go from there. Good luck!
