Hey guys! Long time lurker, big fan of this subreddit. Anyways, I decided to come here for sound advice on how to attract and get into a good relationship. A little background information: I’ve been single for about a year, and have a demanding job so I recently got into online dating apps. While I was in a serious relationship for a couple of years I feel like I missed a huge dating gap - I’ve been on a handful of dates and they maybe last 2-3 dates, some men just want to rush into taking you home, or to get into your pants, some lose interest after a couple of dates. I’m in my mid 20s, good job, financially stable, take care of myself by being a super active person (in excellent shape) pretty outgoing, and down to earth kind of women. My friends keep asking me how I’m not off the market.

Another thing I’ve noticed is that the more successful the man is, the more options he has, I usually date men 3-10 years older than me, I’m an old soul so I tend to feel more comfortable with a guy in his 30s who knows what he wants. But, now a days the older a man gets (if he’s successful) I’ve noticed a trend that they don’t want to settle because they know they are successful and they can keep their options opened longer. I have no problem getting a guy, my problem is trying to keep them around. I usually make minimal effort with these men (send a couple of texts throughout the week since I’m not waiting around) until I see that there’s potential because after all, if he is interested after a couple of dates he can come and find me.

So..... how does one get into a relationship under these circumstances? Am I just out of the loop when it comes to modern day dating? Should I just get a dog instead?
