Thanks but what qualifies as RPW content? I'm new at this.

Read the side-bar material.

Alrighty.

I have paraguard. The IUD is one of the most effective forms of birth control, so we don't combine it with anything else.

I don't have one, but I found this site that is all about IUD's. Perhaps that community will be better equipped to answer your questions.

he's the only person I've had unprotected sex with and I'm the only person he's ever had sex with so is there a greater risk other than pregnancy for us?

Have you both been tested and given a clean bill of health? If either of you has had oral sex with other people - there's a chance that you could be infected with something and not even know it. Many people don't consider "oral sex" when listing their partner history, which is not only a bad idea - but also misleading.

Be careful to stay clean, you don't want to get a UTI.

Every papsmear I've had came back clean and free of problems so I'm set on that and I've only had sexual relations with 2 people in my life both of them I was their first in everything. So I'm pretty sure I don't have any oral thing. And yeah UTIs are a pain in the butt im a very cleanly person so I think I'm doing fine on that boat :)

Hi there! I've been lurking here for ages, but felt I could be of use in this instance. I've had an IUD for almost five years now. My boyfriend and I both enjoy not having to use condoms, and as it's non-hormonal I don't go mental/gain weight on it. I find it can hurt quite a bit when sex is a bit more "rough and ready" but nothing major enough to want to change it, and it's a real wight off my mind not having to mess around with condoms in the heat of the moment or wondering if I've forgotten to take a pill.

Apart from the usual "Ahh I'm slightly late and I wanted an extra serving of ice-cream, I must be knocked up!" feeling I've never had a pregnancy scare whilst using it, as they're one of the most effective methods of birth control.

Mine hurt a lot for the first few months, as they're not ideal for women who haven't had a baby before - the uterus isn't stretched out, so cramping onto it can be majorly painful.

Make sure to regularly check that you can feel the strings to make sure it's still in place, but don't worry my boyfriend has never managed to feel them.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to P.M. me or just comment here :)

I don't have one (I'm on the pill myself) but I know someone who got an IUD after she had kids. Often, people only get IUDs after they have kids (some doctors won't even give it to you unless you've had kids) but they are nearly foolproof, which is good.

Don't let this scare you too much, but I know a woman who got it when she hadn't had kids, and it migrated into her liver somehow. She was fine, but it required emergency surgery. I think this is one of the reason they prefer to give them to women who have had kids- I think her uterus was too small for it or something. Honestly, this is a great thing to speak to your doctor about since I'm sure she can give you better information!

Also, I'm not sure why/how an IUD would worsen your sex life! The only thing I've heard doing that is the pill, it can lower your libido.

I have one and I LOVE it. I have the copper one because I can't handle hormones. I lost 15 lbs after a few months, and I don't have to worry about missing a pill or anything. You don't even have to think about it. No regrets. I will say that for the first 6 months to a year my husband could feel it sometimes and it hurt. He would just put on a condom when that happened, but I know some men are super against condoms. He never feels it anymore, though. The doctor told me the strings would soften up after awhile but I didn't think "awhile" meant a whole year.
